Received a call around 6PM this evening from a customer experiencing a complete power loss.

Upon arrival, this was the condition of the consumer unit after a DIY replacement had been attempted.

Unfortunately, the installation could not be completed safely, leaving the property without power. The customer then contacted us for an emergency call-out.

⚠️ Evening call-out due to poor workmanship ⚠️

This evening a customer contacted us after losing all power following a consumer unit change carried out by another electrician.

He was advised to contact UK Power Networks and told the issue was with the incoming supply.

Before attending, our charges were clearly explained and agreed:
💷 £90 call-out
💷 £120 per hour

As soon as we opened the consumer unit, the issue was immediately obvious 👇
❌ Busbar not installed (see photo).

This simple but critical mistake meant the electrics could not work.

✔️ Fault found immediately
✔️ Fixed in under 10 minutes
✔️ Power safely restored

The customer paid £210 and was relieved to have the issue correctly diagnosed and resolved.
