A COMPLEX JOB REQUIRES THE RIGHT TEAM AND THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT
This substantial mature ash had become a serious concern, with extensive dieback and deterioration evident throughout the tree.
Following an assessment of its condition, we submitted a five-day notice to the local council and received confirmation that the removal could proceed.
Its location made this a particularly challenging job. The tree was effectively wedged behind a garage and against the boundaries of two neighbouring properties, with extremely restricted access and no straightforward way of getting large machinery directly alongside it.
With the scale of the tree, its difficult location and the specialist equipment required, we knew this wasn’t a job for our climbers and usual machinery. We therefore brought in experienced contractors Oz Group Contracting with the equipment and expertise needed to carry out the removal safely.
Using a Magni rotating telehandler fitted with a specialist tree-cutting attachment, large sections of the tree were carefully dismantled and lifted over the surrounding properties, rather than being dropped into the very limited space below. As the work progressed, an experienced tree climber continued the dismantling, carefully removing the remaining sections piece by piece.
Some of the limbs and trunk sections were enormous – the photographs and videos show the scale!
A challenging job requiring considerable skill, the right equipment and a carefully planned approach to working in such a restricted space.
