A look ahead at one of our high-end residential projects in Richmond, where we’re delivering the extensive remodelling and extension of a private home alongside a new bespoke garden outbuilding.

The scheme will completely transform the property, creating a refined contemporary home with generous open-plan living, dining and kitchen spaces, a dedicated study, private cinema, upgraded bedroom accommodation and a luxury master suite. The proposals also include a separate garden studio incorporating both gym and games areas, extending the living space beyond the main house.
At the rear, a substantial glazed extension will create a strong connection between the interior and garden, combining clean architectural detailing with carefully considered finishes throughout.

The Construkt Project Summer Initiative 2026 has officially kicked off! 🥳

We’re proud to be funding and co-delivering the five programmes with Serious About Youth (SAY), helping young people explore careers across construction and STEM through practical, hands-on experiences.

On Monday, participants started the week with a live site tour of our Arundel Court and Baldewyne Court projects in Haringey, seeing first-hand how new homes are delivered on site: Arundel Court, 18 new council homes, and Baldewyne Court, 12 new council homes.

The initiative brings together five programmes of practical construction career education and STEM activities throughout the week for students and unemployed young people aged 16–25. Working alongside local organisations and employers, the programme is designed to build long-term relationships and provide meaningful insight into career opportunities across the industry.

Activities include sessions with Design Managers and BIM Engineers, site tours, construction and STEM activities, employability training, tender presentations, CV and career support, and networking with local employers working across Haringey.

A brilliant opportunity to give local young people real insight into the industry, build confidence and create meaningful pathways into construction. 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Just some of the brilliant work experience placements we’ve hosted recently across our projects. 👷‍♂️🏗️

From T Level students gaining hands-on insight at Pelham House, to placements in Stoke Newington following a project’s progress week by week, we’re proud to give young people a genuine view of what a career in construction can look like.

And no two placements have to be the same. Depending on someone’s interests and experience, we can offer opportunities across our live construction sites and individual trades, or simply the chance to spend a week shadowing a Site Manager and learning how a project operates from the ground up.

Most importantly, we want everyone joining us to feel supported. We consistently receive 100% positive feedback from both students and our Site Managers, with recent participants scoring us 5/5 for feeling well looked after during their placement - reflecting how seriously we take welfare, inclusion and creating a positive first experience of the industry.

Recent feedback has included:

⭐ Oliver, T Level student at Pelham House — loved "seeing the project develop week by week"

We’re pleased to have completed Ashdowne Court 🎉, delivering three new three-bedroom homes for a local authority, providing much-needed accommodation for families at council rents 🤝.

The scheme involved the removal of existing garages to create the new homes and private gardens 🌱, alongside wider improvements for existing residents, including a reconfigured parking layout, an enhanced communal courtyard, new landscaping and tree planting, refuse and recycling facilities, and secure cycle storage 🅿️.

Sustainability has been central to the development, with the new homes designed to achieve zero carbon, incorporating high levels of insulation and responsibly sourced, environmentally conscious materials 🌳.

A compact site transformed into high-quality new homes and an improved environment for the wider community 👏. Well done to our team that delivered this project.

At Wat Tyler House, our dedicated Alexander James Utilities team recently managed, coordinated and delivered the new water and electricity connections supporting the development of 15 new council-rent apartments.

As the utilities delivery arm of Alexander James Group, our approach is shaped by something different: we understand the construction programme because we work within it.

As an established main contractor, we develop, build and connect our own schemes. This means our utilities team understands the pressures of live construction environments, programme milestones, coordination between trades and the commercial impact of delays.

With NERS and WIRS accreditation, Alexander James Utilities can self-deliver regulated power and water infrastructure where appropriate, while also managing and coordinating third-party providers to achieve the best solution for each project.

We are pleased to welcome Ryan as Head of Pre-Construction at Alexander James Group.

With more than 15 years’ construction experience across education, social housing, commercial offices and retail fit-out, Ryan brings a valuable combination of commercial expertise and practical construction knowledge to the Group.

Having worked as both an Estimator and Quantity Surveyor, he has extensive experience in cost planning, tender strategy, procurement, value engineering and contract management. In his new role, Ryan will lead the strategic planning, tendering and early-stage delivery approach for projects across our specialist construction businesses.

Working closely with clients, consultants, supply chain partners and our internal delivery teams, Ryan will help ensure that projects are robust, buildable and commercially viable from the outset - bridging the gap between concept, design, pre-construction and successful delivery on site.

His appointment further strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality projects across the residential, commercial, education, heritage and public sectors.
