We’re positively beaming. And this time, it’s structural. 🏗️

Steel takes the stage : beams overhead, columns finding their place, and the new structure coming together with the masonry and timber joists.

This is the stage we love — when the drawings start becoming a space you can actually stand in. There’s plenty of measuring, careful positioning and checking behind every photograph. Gravity, after all, is a rather unforgiving site inspector.

Much of this work will eventually disappear behind the finishes. Before it does, a little appreciation for the bones of the building — quietly doing the heavy lifting long after we’ve packed away the tools.

Whitechapel Project Progress Update – Brickwork

With the foundations complete, the new extension is beginning to rise above ground.

Our team has been constructing the insulated cavity walls, including the blockwork inner leaf, cavity insulation, wall ties and carefully selected reclaimed London stock bricks to complement the character of the existing property.

Building within a restricted space—and around a carefully supported existing structure—requires accurate setting out and plenty of patience. As always, every course is checked for line, level and alignment. After all, bricklayers prefer their walls like their humour: straight and well laid!

The new layout is now taking shape, with the masonry progressing steadily towards the next stage of the structural works.

“Every garden transformation has a brief ‘what have we done?’ stage…”

Plenty of progress at our North Acton project as the existing patio and garden surfaces make way for the next stage.

The mini excavator has been earning its keep—breaking out the old slab, opening up the ground and preparing the site for the new landscaping works.
It may currently look like the world’s least relaxing garden, but the groundwork is taking shape nicely.

Here’s a look back at the opening stages of our North Acton project—from the original garden, toys and swing included, through to site clearance and preparation for the work ahead.

The garden may look worse before it looks better, but every successful transformation starts with careful planning, safe access and a properly organised site.
Now the real work begins.

Whitechapel Project, Progress Update – Foundations and Footings

With the existing structure carefully supported, our team progressed with the excavation and preparation of the new foundations. The concrete footings were poured in stages, followed by the first courses of engineering blockwork and brickwork—creating a solid base for the new extension.

It may not be the most glamorous part of the build, but every impressive project needs somewhere solid to stand—and foundations are very good at keeping a low profile!

Another important milestone completed methodically within a restricted working area, while protecting the retained building and neighbouring boundaries.

Next stage: bringing the new walls up and continuing with the structural works.

We have officially begun works on a new project in Whitechapel, London.

Every transformation starts with a little destruction.

These photographs capture the demolition stage of the Project — stripping the property back, exposing what lies beneath and preparing the building for its next chapter.

Acton Town Project

As part of the wider remodelling and refurbishment of this property, this stage of the Acton Town Project focuses on the internal finishes and floor construction.
These photographs capture the installation of the dry underfloor heating system, using an extruded XPS panel system, followed by the fitting of the engineered timber flooring and bespoke skirting boards.
The floor build-up provides an efficient and carefully considered solution for integrating underfloor heating while maintaining a clean, level finish beneath the engineered timber boards.
Attention to detail throughout the installation ensures that the new flooring, skirting and surrounding finishes come together seamlessly as part of the wider transformation of the property.

Acton Town Project

As part of a wider remodelling and refurbishment project, we present here a Kitchen-to-Sitting Room conversion, creating a stronger connection between the property and the garden.

These photographs capture the process from initial demolition, through structural steel installation, to the fitting of the new Cortizo sliding door system.

Careful structural alterations allowed for the creation of a wide opening, maximising natural light and providing seamless access to the outdoor space.
