Did you know a well-designed bathroom can increase your home value and make everyday living more comfortable?
Bathrooms are often the smallest rooms in a home, but thoughtful design can make them feel special. For this project, we transformed the first floor layout creating and extra bedroom in a very tight victorian house meant recolating and creation a new a standard family bathroom
First, we replaced the flat ceiling with a vaulted roof, creating a greater sense of height and bringing more light into the room. Then, we used decorative, water-resistant plasterboard to add texture and character to the walls and ceiling while keeping the space practical for family life into a brighter, more elevated space with two key changes.
The result shows how even the most functional rooms can be designed with the same care and ambition as the rest of the home.

A cafe is remembered by how it makes people feel. For Busan Cafe, the brief was to transform a commercial space into a branded cafe environment with warmth, openness, and a strong connection to the ground floor. The design began with the logo, using it as a starting point for the visual language, rhythm, and identity of the space. The challenge was to create more than a place to eat or drink. It needed to feel social, memorable, and connected - flowing naturally between indoor and outdoor areas. The result is a cafe shaped by brand, atmosphere, and the client’s personal vision. What makes a cafe memorable to you design, atmosphere, or experience?

At The Retreat, the ambition was to create a light-filled contemporary interior that could support the rhythm of everyday family life.

The existing layout had potential, but the spaces felt too separate. The dining area, living space, and wider interior needed a stronger sense of flow. That became the central design challenge.

How do you make a home feel more open and generous, while still calm, practical, and comfortable to live in?

Our response was to rework the plan so the dining area became part of a wider open living space. This helped create a more continuous interior, where daily moments feel less fragmented and more naturally connected.

For us, this is what good residential design should do. It should not only improve how a space looks. It should improve how life happens inside it.

What matters most to you in a family home - openness, flow, or flexibility?

A dining room should never feel like an afterthought. In many Victorian homes, dining spaces can feel dark, enclosed, or disconnected from the rest of the house.

For this Courtyard House project, the challenge was to turn the dining area into a brighter, more generous space for everyday living. Our approach was to bring in natural light, open up views to the garden, and create a stronger connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape.

The result is a dining space that feels calm, elevated, and much more enjoyable to spend time in. Because good dining rooms are not only about the table. They are about light, atmosphere, and the moments that happened around it.

What about you? What makes a dining space feel special to you?

Most people redesign their home and forget about light. Don't. 🏡

At The Retreat, daylight layout and flow was central to every decision — from room orientation to ceiling heights to material choices.

The outcome: spaces that feel larger, brighter and far more liveable.

Here are some photos from our recently completed courtyard house on Tucked just off the dining space, this internal courtyard brings light, calm, and a quiet sense of rhythm into the heart of the home. What was once a darker part of the plan is now a considered focal point - connecting inside and out with clarity and ease.
A subtle architectural intervention, designed to transform everyday living.

We're revisiting one of our past projects, The Retreat in West London. Our team including GPI project management worked to transform a dated 1960s family home into a modern retreat with a focus on light and layout.
