It’s been an interesting 24 hours.

For those who’ve just started following me or for those who’ve learnt new things from my content, here is a short ‘teachable moment’. Unscripted and unplanned.

Anti-Jewish racism comes in many forms. Some of them very subtle and often it becomes a shape-shifting virus.

Remember the ‘quinel’? (A N**i salute but downwards, to escape punishment). Even now people refer to 🧃 in the comments. They say ‘the painter’ (Hi**er) was right. It goes on and on. Coded racism everywhere.

In a time in which racism is generally frowned upon, holding Israel to standards you would NEVER hold any other country to, so you can demonise and then ask Jews to denounce their homeland… that’s the kind of racism that has become totally socially acceptable.

If you’ve never noticed this or thought about it before, here it is. To decent people everywhere - if you see this, call it out. The Jewish community is 0.2% of the global population, getting rid of anti-Jewish racism cannot be done solely by Jews.

Yesterday I was called a “baby killer” in public by somebody I have never heard of or met, a photographer named Stewart Capper.

It is a slanderous allegation I take extremely seriously.

Stewart then went on to criticise my work in a very harsh way, but that part does not bother me. Especially when his portfolio is limited in variety and quality. 15 Prime Ministers, Royals, every celebrity I’ve ever wanted to meet, flown around the world. I’m quite happy with my career.

Anyway… he then went on to threaten me as he is “a bigger part of the London photography community” than me. Whatever that means. He doesn’t quite realise the amount of front pages I’ve had. The shoots I’ve done. The places and people I’ve had access to. The life I’ve made for myself through photography for 20 years.

Stewart invaded my DMs, sending me unsolicited abuse and threats, without reply. He even wrote that I should put his message on my IG stories. So I did.

Here is a thread of the entire scenario… shocking and hilarious. Apparently Stewart is now compiling lists of (mainly) Jews to hand over to the police. It’s not a good look, Stewart.

Anyway, have a read. It’s all here. A few pieces to camera from me too.

I have never personally called anyone a “baby killer”, online or offline. This may be why I have a career and long-standing clients. My guess is that Stewart has only ever thrown that allegation at Jewish people. Again, not a good look.

His clients apparently include Nike adidas Football YouTube Music and apparently “many more”. I would suggest that Stew needs more clients, and less free time in which to slander Jewish people online.

Please read. It’s important. Maybe Stewart did this many times and nobody challenged him. But not this time.

Stewart, if you would like to go for a coffee to learn from someone who knows about this topic (I honestly think I’ve been to the Middle East more times than you’ve been booked for photoshoots), it would be a pleasure.

Recent brand shoot in central Rome for the incredible people at Ezra Coaching.

Along with my clients, we hired a bright office space in the city. It was a small space, so required creative thinking to find as many angles and backdrops as possible, both inside the space and just outside the front door.

Ezra Coaching is a global firm, so these images weren't supposed to shout "Rome". Quite the opposite, the location couldn't be a feature in this campaign.

Throughout the course of a day, many wonderful individuals came to spend 20 minutes with me, sometimes in groups of 2 or 3.

We shot hundreds of shots I was proud of, and many will appear around the world in a variety of settings. Here are just a few...

Twenty years as a photographer. One hundred sessions as a coach.

I'd always been told that coaching is something I naturally do, even with a camera in hand, but having now delved beneath the surface of professional coaching, the parallels are remarkable.

When training photographers, I'd always say that two people could stand next to each other and take a photo of the same thing. The results could be completely different. They see things differently, and make their own decisions as to what goes into the frame and what doesn't.

In coaching, I help others to reframe their lives. To see the same scene, but in a different way. To decide to focus less on the things that can't push us forward, and more on the things that can - making decisions about what to keep in 'the frame' and what gets left out.

In my photography career I often have a short period of time to get the very best out of an individual, whether that's backstage at Carnegie Hall, a Royal Palace, or a shy teenager having a photoshoot at home. The same is true with coaching - bring the very best out of others, and impart a level of confidence in sessions which allows my clients to be proud of their achievements so far yet focused to fulfil their potential.

For 20 years I've framed images, now I'm helping clients to re-frame their lives.

It's been a profound journey so far.

ANNOUNCEMENT :)

I'm a massive believer that people can show up as more than one thing, those of you who've followed some of my non-photography projects over the years have seen this. Public speaking, DJ'ing, publishing...

For years I've wanted to be a coach. A people coach. Helping people to be the person they want to be; working with people to break down the barriers around them.

Well… I’m now studying to be an ICF Accredited coach.

Photography is absolutely still here, but this is something I'm passionate about doing alongside it.

As part of the qualification, I need to do 100 hours of coaching. The first 25 have to be free and the following 75 hours have to be paid - paying whatever you feel the session was worth. The amount is not important at all.

Sessions are one hour and over Zoom. Totally confidential, and centred around what you need, so I really believe they can be transformative to people of any age, stage, or career level.

Just to be really clear, this isn't industry specific, I'm not looking for photographers. This is really for anyone.

If you'd like to book a session, get in touch. You'd be helping me out, and I believe you'll gain a lot from the session too...
