Often overlooked, the staircase is like a thread stitching together the different rooms and areas of a house, connecting old and new.

At Future House we designed the new staircase to the loft as a modern version of the orginal staircase in the lower floors. It creates continuity while introducing the new that awaits in the loft.

I love how airy and dreamy this bedroom looks.
It has lots of clever storage carefully executed by Bespoke Fitted Furniture - Mark Made Work a beautiful window seat topped by Beth Swade Upholsterer with deep drawers under.

This room has been carefully insulated internally like the rest of the existing house, to improve its thermal performance, and the windows replaced with double glazed sashes

Last year we worked on the renovation of a ground floor space in Lewisham. The clients originally contacted us as they wanted to extend to the side to add a laundry/utility space on the ground floor.
However during the process we realised that extending was not the right answer, so we removed the bathroom and replaced it with a toilet and a laundry cupboard. The kitchen was completely refurbished and a new dining space was created.

The side infill extension contains and defines the dining area. The two ends of the extension are framed by large windows that bring natural light and enhance the visual connection between different areas. The glass roof with oak rafters allows open views of the sky and the nearby palm tree.

The courtyard is a key element in this project. This quiet space, beautifully finished by Wilder , not only brings a green space to the heart of the house, but allowed us to bring natural light and ventilation to every room.
It also allows a visual and physical connection amongst different areas.

The front room is where the original house speaks the loudest. We all felt from the beginning that we wanted to try and keep everything that was left in this room of the original house. The coving has been expertly restored or replaced where needed by , the timber floor insulated and restored, the doors to the music room open and timber sashes replaced with double glazing
