A message from one of our favourite Scaledown regulars, Eugene Coyne:

"It’s less than two weeks until I’m playing at the Bread and Roses in Clapham on Saturday 12 July alongside Robert Storey and Seaming Family Band plus Klavikon. It’s going to be a great night, and admission is just £10 / pay what you can. Hope to see you there.

Robert Storey

"Truly eccentric and absolutely out of step with any known fashion, past or present, though obliquely familiar to many of them" - Chris Cutler

Seaming Family Band plus Klavikon

“One of the most captivating, unclassifiable performers on the scene” - The Financial Times

Eugene Coyne

“Stream-of-consciousness lyrics and frequently darkly sardonic vocals reflect on the world in crisis and on the edge of impending meltdown” - Penny Black Music

Live at The Bread & Roses
68 Clapham Manor Street
London SW4 6DZ

Saturday 12 July 2025. Doors 8pm

Admission £10 / Pay What You Can. No One Turned Away"

Experiments in news and arts with Jude Montague. Saxophonist and composer David Zucchi discusses his project and CD release Mandi on People Places Records. This, his debut composing album combines sax, looping and arrangement with the recordings of a collection of reel-to-reels recorded by his father’s family in 1959 on a Geloso G. 255 recording device. He describes the tracks as elaborations on and reconstructions of the words, songs, and music of these tapes. His approach is to work with glitches inherent in the recording process and the deterioration of the reels that help form the basis of the musical material.
