Vaulting Loft has been named ‘Home Transformation of the Year up to 2,500 sq.ft.’ At the British Homes Awards 2026.

The project transforms and extends a neglected top floor apartment within a detached Victorian house in Hampstead.

The project completely reimagines the roofscape by infilling a valley that existed between two parallel roof ridges, creating an expansive new flat roof with a grand 4.8 metre floor to ceiling height below. By extending the roof we were able to reconfigure what was previously a two bedroom flat into three bedrooms with additional space on a mezzanine floor.

Moving through the flat, the new dynamic roof form moves with you, at times soaring high, creating a grand and expansive sense of space , whilst at others it drops down low, creating moments of more human scale and intimacy.

We’re incredibly pleased to see the project recognised alongside so many outstanding homes and would like to thank our wonderful clients and everyone involved in bringing it to life.

Vaulting Loft, Hampstead, involves the transformation and extension of a top floor apartment within a detached Victorian House in a Hampstead conservation area.

The project completely reimagines the roofscape by infilling a valley that existed between two parallel roof ridges, creating an expansive new flat roof with a grand almost 5 metre floor to ceiling height below. By extending the roof we were able to reconfigure what was a previously two bedroom flat into three bedrooms with an additional space on a mezzanine floor.

Moving through the flat, the new dynamic roof form moves with you, at times soaring high creating a grand and expansive sense of space, whilst at others, it drops down low, creating moments of more human scale and intimacy.

We’re incredibly pleased that this project has been shortlisted for a in the home transformation category!

Rhythm in architecture is found in repetition and variation - in the cadence of structure, the pattern of cladding, the repetition of joinery and detail. Across our work, these recurring elements bring order and movement, creating moments of emphasis and pause, while instilling a sense of calm.
