Fed up with all of the metaphoric Rhubarb of today and by that I mean the depressing hyperbolic news and the endless crap on Social Media generally. This is something completely different and honest: real Rhubarb. It may contain cooking tips. It will also have stuff about other plants. In fact anything garden or food related. There is not

hing better than food you grow yourself in your own garden if you are lucky enough to have one. You know exactly where it comes from and whether or not you have used any chemicals on it. Sometimes it gets eaten by bugs or birds or even squirrels. C’est la vie. Go outside and listen to the birds while we still have them. Convene with nature; it is good for the soul.

Hello, what a beautiful day for a look around the garden. The rhubarb is just starting to make an appearance. Snowdrops are out. Crocuses, old hanging baskets on for protection from the Squirrel who eats the flowers and the bulbs! And what I hope is some Hedgehog p**p. Our poor hedgehogs are in decline in the UK 🦔 if you see them about look out for their health, many resources on the internet but please don’t give them milk. It will soon be Spring 🌈

The Rhubarb is looking very dry, it’s almost finished for now. It’ll start growing again in the Autumn

I think it’s safe to say Spring has now arrived here, Rhubarb is starting to make an appearance. 🐛🐝🐇

Now the Rhubarb is really growing and some is ready to harvest 🥧🥧🥧 pie or crumble? Or just bring it to the boil, turn off the heat and leave it to stew, lovely with ice cream, custard or plain yoghourt.

Don’t leave it too long as it can go tough and stringy.

The rhubarb is growing. Soon I will be making a Rhubarb crumble.

Harvested the last of the Beetroot, something ate one of them, these are multi coloured. Mud scraped off, some of the nicer leaves selected to eat - tastes and cooks like Spinach. Critters and debris returned to the garden. Beetroots on the boil 💜 for @ an hour. Easy to grow.
