It’s something I’ve been thinking about sharing for a while.
Customers often ask me:
“Assaf, why does Team 1 Construction only take on four or five projects at the same time?”
They usually say that if we accepted more projects, customers wouldn’t need to wait as long for us to start.
And honestly, they are right.
We could take on more work.
We could have more teams on more sites, increase our turnover and reduce the waiting time for new customers.
But I always come back to the same question:
Would that make us a bigger company, or would it make us a worse company?
When someone asks us to renovate their home, they are not just giving us another construction job.
They are trusting us with their home, their savings and something they may have been planning for years.
Sometimes they are building an extra bedroom for a growing family.
Sometimes they are finally creating the kitchen they have always wanted.
Sometimes they are completely changing the home where their children will grow up.
That responsibility means something to me.
I never want one of our customers to feel like they are just another address on our schedule.
By limiting the number of projects we take on, I can remain personally involved.
I can visit the sites, speak with our customers, support our team, check the quality of the work and deal with problems before they become bigger problems.
It allows us to give each project the attention it deserves.
Does this sometimes mean customers need to wait before we can start?
Yes.
And I understand that waiting can be frustrating, especially when someone is excited and ready to begin.
But I would rather be honest and ask a customer to wait than accept their project knowing we cannot give it 100%.
For me, building a successful company is not about having our name outside as many houses as possible.
It is about finishing each project knowing that we did the job properly, treated the customer fairly and protected the trust they placed in us.
That is the type of company I want Team 1 Construction to remain.
To every customer who has waited for us, trusted us and allowed us into their home—thank you.
We never take that trust for granted.
