Yet again, the phrase ‘never meet your heroes did happily not stand up to reality.

When I saw that Paul Smith (a self described shopkeeper at heart) was set to appear at the pop up at Selfridges corner shop recently, I changed my train to London and got there early so could I meet him.

He was such a joy! 🌈

Humble, interested, engaged, inspiring.

In Paul’s own words, that I have pinned up in my office, ‘’You can find inspiration in everything and if you can’t, look again’’.

Truly, a life so well lived so far, and even in his 80’s, with no signs of slowing down.

It served as a good reminder, from Smith’s own account, about what makes a good life – curiosity, creativity, humour, looking after people, and ambition but not greed. 👏

Something spooky this way comes! 👻

The Besties have a dark side. Landing this autumn and destined to be darkly loveable all year round!

Drop us a DM if you’d like to be a stockist of this brand that is flying off the shelves right now.

Who’s behind the door??

It’s those lovely Magpies! 👋

Paid a visit to the fantastic new space that Meg and Chris have just moved into, after very quickly outgrowing their previous space.

This is about 5 times the size of their previous space, which they only upsized to less than a year ago!

(I also got a sneak peak of some exciting product development. Watch this space, but it’s safe to say it’s very good news indeed they’ve got the room to grow, as we’re set for a cracking rest of the year 💥)

With now even more space to create award winning designs and grow even faster, they’d like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to all their wonderful stockists with a celebration discount on your next order 🎉... offer ends this Sunday!

Existing customers see your inbox for details, or drop us a DM for more info.

Onwards! 🚀

A very happy evening all round .giftoftheyear.awards last night. Awards galore at our table! A shout out to who I could have listened to for ages. Jeff had some incredible anecdotes from his early years of retailing and is clearly still so passionate about retail and design. An excellent choice of presenter!

Congrats to on their multiple nominations and awards. Was delighted for Scotland to be flying the flag with well deserved awards for for the best window display and to for being the winners of the Beauty, Bath and Spa category with the wonderful Tiny Towns range of soaps, following on from their gold award for this range at in spring.

It’s been fantastic to work with Meg and Chris and see the stellar growth of in this last year.

With all the soaps hand made in house in their studio just outside Edinburgh, something tells me they are going to be busier than ever keeping up with the demand!

I was reminded that at this same event a couple of years back I allegedly fell off my chair. I denied this until I was presented with the photographic evidence, which was then printed out for me in sticker form to enjoy.

I am sure that the taker of the photograph who shall remain nameless (Michael Apter), was helping me up with his other hand, which must be just out of shot!

The shame! (Of realising that I was wearing the same dress!) Must get to the shops 😂

So enjoyed the magic of the Chimney lift

Seeing a 360 of London just suddenly ‘pop’ up before your eyes was magical. Sadly though the lift boss was not persuadable in letting me do it over and over again. Spoilsport!

Thanks for the fun

*I was actually there to do work, honest! SS26 and AW26 are both looking cracking. There’s lots of happy customers with delightful displays ordered and ready to go for Jan deliveries. If you’re yet to explore, drop us a DM or give a 👋 here and we’ll be in touch with all the info you need to give 2026 a cracking LIFT OFF!

We don’t like customers to go hungry or thirsty in the showroom, so we were very happy to honour our first lunch request of the season for ‘Christmas sandwiches please’.

Thought we might as well get fully into the spirit and so laid on mince pies, crackers and the festive table setting!

You’ll never guess what we were planning for in the buying meeting…… Spring! 🤣 ❤️ 🌸🐰

Thanks for a fun and productive meeting
