Meet the "Backbone of the Sahara" one of the longest, heaviest, and most legendary trains in the world.

Operating since 1963, this iconic Mauritania Railway train stretches up to an incredible 3 kilometers (nearly 2 miles) in length. With over 200 carriages powered by 3 to 4 massive locomotives, it carries 17,000 tons of iron ore across 704 km of barren desert from the mining town of Zouérat to the coastal port of Nouadhibou.

An industrial giant, a thrilling adventure, and a vital lifeline through the endless desert sands.

Nouadhibou, Mauritania's major commercial hub, is home to one of the world's most unique maritime graveyards. Over the decades, more than 300 abandoned vessels from trawlers to naval cruisers were left to slowly dissolve, transforming the coastline into a hauntingly beautiful landscape.

Côte d'Ivoire: Masques sacrés, défilés de rue et courses sur lagune

Les festivals de Côte d'Ivoire sont une célébration vibrante de la tradition, de la communauté et de l'aventure. Dans l'ouest, le festival Wehede met à l'honneur l'héritage du peuple Wè à travers des danses masquées sacrées et des rituels ancestraux. Le Carnaval de Bouaké, très animé, investit les rues avec ses défilés colorés, sa musique et sa culture locale, tandis que le festival L'Ile à Adiaké captive les spectateurs grâce à des courses de pirogues palpitantes sur la lagune, illustrant ainsi les riches traditions côtières du pays.

Des cérémonies sacrées aux fêtes de rue pleines d'énergie en passant par des courses nautiques passionnantes, la Côte d'Ivoire offre des expériences culturelles inoubliables.

Os festivais da Costa do Marfim são uma celebração vibrante de tradição, comunidade e aventura. No oeste, o Festival Wehede homenageia a herança do povo Wè com danças sagradas de máscaras e rituais ancestrais. O animado Carnaval de Bouaké preenche as ruas com desfiles coloridos, música e cultura local, enquanto o Festival L'Ele, em Adiaké, empolga os espectadores com emocionantes corridas de pirogas na lagoa, destacando as ricas tradições costeiras do país.

Burkina Faso: Arte, Tradições Ancestrais e Orgulho Cultural

Burkina Faso ganha vida por meio de festivais que celebram a criatividade, o patrimônio e a comunidade. Em Koudougou, o festival The Atypical Nights of Koudougou (NAK) combina música, teatro e mostras de artesanato em uma celebração vibrante das artes africanas contemporâneas. Nas profundezas de Bodoukuy, os sagrados Rituais Noturnos de Máscaras Secretas (Masques Blancs) preservam tradições centenárias do povo Bwa, nas quais máscaras brancas dançam sob o manto da escuridão para homenagear os ancestrais e buscar sua proteção.
