NFRC Policy & External Affairs Manager, Gray Gibson, is hosting a panel on the Building Envelope Stage at UK Construction Week Birmingham 2026 on 30 September.

Bringing together NFRC contractors and manufacturers, the panel is titled "Right First Time: The Future of Membrane Suitability" and will explore the implications of key developments in Approved Document B, Awaab's Law and the Future Homes Standard, and what it means for the roof space.

Leading roofing excellence is demanding, which is why giving our members the chance to reset and unwind is so important to NFRC. Huge thanks again to our Y&NE Members and peers who came along to the Northern Shooting Range event last week.

Another well-attended event, with great atmosphere and sportsmanship, and rewarding as always to see our members build connections and take a break from their daily duties.

Entries for the UK Roofing Awards will open later this year, but in the meantime here's some tips to give your entry the best chance:

📷 Work in progress pictures: Drone shots fail to show details or give a full understanding of the complexities. Images can be the deciding factor between a good entry and a shortlisted entry.
💡 Combine images: You can upload ten images to your entry. To maximise capacity, you can upload an image grid that contains multiple pictures.
📝 Detail, detail, detail: Judges don't care about your writing ability, but they need to understand the full scope of the project. Why was it challenging? What new processes did you apply? Why did you choose the materials used? Explain each step in as much detail as possible.
⚒️ Going the extra mile: Include details around excellent supply chain management, using the project to help apprentices develop skills, or even involving the local community are impressive elements that we always want to recognise.

Evidence is critical to your entry. Making sure you have images to support what you write can give your entry the edge it needs and secure points.
