The inside-out house✨

The interior of our newly finished project maximises the full width of the extension. The use of strategic glazing creates a light filled addition whilst ensuring the central rooms in the home remain well lit! The kitchen position allows the users to cook and enjoy their home whilst being connected to their children in the rear living space. A small addition to the space has transformed the way the family use their home.

For the last fortnight, the studio welcomed Sam from Bath Spa University for some work experience. With a passion for how things work, carpentry and illustration, Sam joined us for site visits, team meetings and helped us launch a new piece of kit in the studio for site and advertising!

Using our generational homes project in South West London, Sam explored how to convey the different uses of the new apartments created within the transformed terrace house. He discovered how careful detailing, spatial organisation and retrofit can redefine the existing housing stock in London to fit ever-changing needs of living throughout life.

As a practice, we are passionate about supporting the next generation of architects. Opportunities like this help bridge the gap between architectural education and professional practice, giving Part 1 students valuable exposure to the realities of the industry and the collaborative process behind every project.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the RIBA exhibition ‘In Safe Hands’ from architecture students across London!

The exhibition showcased an inspiring range of projects, with fresh perspectives for our rapidly changing profession, city and planet. It was great to see these innovative pieces from London’s future architects!

One of our team members, Liv, has just returned to the office after completing her Part 2 Architecture degree at the London School of Architecture London School of Architecture

Based on Wilton Estate in Hackney, the thesis explores how domestic architecture can better support informal caregiving through the design of interdependent housing. The proposal demonstrates how gentle densification, retrofit and shared community infrastructure can strengthen existing London neighbourhoods while creating more accessible, adaptable and socially connected homes.

Rather than treating care as something hidden within the home, the project embeds it into everyday life through shared circulation, flexible living arrangements, community spaces and landscape, promoting dignity, autonomy and mutual support for both caregivers and care receivers.

The research closely reflects Studio Manifest’s approach to practice, working within existing communities, valuing retrofit over replacement where appropriate, and using thoughtful, context-led design to create places that are socially as well as environmentally sustainable.

Window seats and deep reveals✨

Given the hot summers we are having to get used to here in London, our recently finished project, Inside-out house, is an example of how a stylish window seat can act both as a piece of furniture, connecting the garden with the dining space, and a tool to keep the heat out but the light in during the hot summer months!

The deep reveal allows the large window to flood the living spaces with light whilst reducing the solar gain by increasing shading. Providing holistic comfort to the home.

Introducing Inside-Out House✨

We are proud to share our recently finished project - a light brick rear extension that not only thermally upgrades but spatially transforms the Victorian Terrace in Lewisham. The indoor-outdoor living was a focal point of the project, becoming even more important retrospectively during this heatwave! The space provides light without heat, and comfort all year round!

We are delighted to formally welcome Will to the Studio Manifest team.

Will joined us earlier this year as a Part 2 Assistant, bringing a wealth of valuable experience in community-led design, collaborative workshops, and exceptional technical precision.

He trained at the Sheffield School of Architecture and Landscape, where he developed a deep interest in projects rooted in the context and rhythm of their local neighborhoods. His academic and practical background heavily explores the importance of participatory design, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable, low-impact construction - creating architecture that responds thoughtfully to people, place, and the challenges of a changing world.

At Studio Manifest, Will excels at translating complex, highly personal client briefs into beautifully crafted, inclusive spaces that truly empower the people who use them.

Outside of the studio, Will is a keen painter and sketcher who loves exploring London’s galleries and creative scene, as well as staying active outdoors through hiking and running.
