🏡 When should you get your new-build home snagged?
The short answer? As early as possible.
Ideally, you want your snagging inspection carried out before completion, while the developer is still responsible for putting defects right.
But what if your developer won’t allow access before completion? Don’t panic. You can arrange an inspection as soon as you have access to the finished property.
And if you’ve already moved in, it’s definitely not too late. In fact, living in your new home can reveal problems that aren’t obvious during an initial inspection, such as:
🔧 Heating that doesn’t work properly
🚪 Doors that catch or don’t close correctly
🪟 Windows that don’t seal properly
đź’§ Poor drainage or water pooling
🚿 Bathrooms that don’t drain correctly
🌡️ Condensation issues
🔊 Excessive noise between rooms
The important thing is not to leave it for months. The sooner problems are identified, the sooner you can raise them with your developer.
