Contractor: PC Drainage Systems Ltd
Reported issue: The customer reported damp problems at the property and blocked drains.
Site safety: Before works began, the area was fully secured to protect members of the public.
Downpipe and surface water gully: The downpipe discharging into the surface water gully was inspected and found to have faults requiring repair. The area around the gully was cleared to allow investigation. The gully was found to be blocked and damaged. It was cleared, and a camera survey of the line was carried out to assess its condition.
Manhole in alleyway: The manhole located in the alleyway was jetted and its trap cleared, restoring normal flow. A drain plug was installed, with a vent tube left open to allow ventilation. This pipe should be protected, as it may otherwise provide an exit point for rats from the drainage system.
External manhole on public footpath: The external manhole serving the building, located on the public footpath, was found to be partially blocked. The main line and the interceptor trap were unblocked, and flow was restored. A redundant line was sealed with a drain plug. During the inspection, it was noted that clean water from outside of chamber entering the interceptor manhole through a hole in the benching and discharging into the U-trap(video). This has been reported to Thames Water for further investigation.
Documentation: All works have been documented, and the drainage line has been CCTV surveyed. The full survey footage and findings have been sent to the customer.
