⭐ Plumbing Myth: Putting a Brick in the Toilet Tank Saves Water Safely
It sounds like a clever old-school water-saving trick.
Drop a brick in the cistern, use less water per flush - simple.
In reality, it can cause more problems than it solves. Bricks can:
❌ Break down over time and crumble inside the tank
❌ Interfere with the flush mechanism
❌ Damage internal components
❌ Lead to weak or incomplete flushes
Modern toilets are designed to use a specific amount of water to clear the bowl properly. Reducing that volume the wrong way can lead to repeat flushing… or blockages.
If you’re looking to reduce water usage, there are better options - including modern dual-flush mechanisms or properly adjusted internal fittings.
