He had dreamt all his life of being a film director. However, due to his sharp teeth, he found the woodland creatures were reluctant to join his theatre group. So, he found his way around this by the way of improvisation. Sometimes he forgot that his hands were behind the motions and would take nibbles out of his own puppets.

This oil painting is titled ‘Yum’- oil on wood.

Be Kind

He’d spent his whole youth chasing squirrels. It gave him such a thrill. He’d never actually caught one, which he thought was a terrible shame, but like a gambler certain his luck was about to change, he always thought, next time I’ll get one.

In his old age, he became quite blind and rather deaf, and navigating the park wasn’t so easy anymore.

The squirrels remembered all those years of harassment, of course, but they weren’t the sort to hold a grudge. They knew it had only ever been a game.

So they took pity on the old spotty dog and offered to guide him safely around the squirrel trees. His eyes might not work anymore, but his nose certainly did.

After all, there’s no need to be unkind just because you once had good reason to be.
