☀️ M.R. SECURITY SYSTEMS – ANNUAL LEAVE NOTICE 🇬🇷🍺

After a busy few months keeping homes and businesses secure, it's time for me to swap the CCTV cameras, alarms and tools for a bit of Greek sunshine! 😎🏖️

I'll be taking a well-earned break in Crete from Thursday 15th October to Friday 23rd October (inclusive).

I'll be back to business as usual from Monday 26th October.

During this time, I may be slower than usual responding to calls, messages and enquiries, but I'll get back to everyone as soon as possible.

A big thank you to all my customers for your continued support. It's very much appreciated!

I'm Mark, the owner and engineer behind M.R. Security Systems.
I've spent over 30 years working in the security industry, and there's one thing I've learned that has nothing to do with cameras, alarms or technology:

Trust matters.

When you ask someone to secure your home or business, you're trusting them with something important.

That's why I run M.R. Security Systems a little differently.
There's no big sales team.
The person you speak to is the person who understands your system.

I'll look at what you actually need, explain the options and recommend what I believe is right for your property and your budget.

If you don't need something, I'll tell you.
And once the job is finished, I don't disappear.

When your security system stops working, who are you going to call? 🔧📹

Security faults don't always happen at a convenient time.
Cameras go offline.Recorders fail.Alarms develop faults.Door access stops working.Gates refuse to open.
And when that happens, you don't necessarily need a complete new system.

Sometimes you just need someone who knows how to fix it.

I've spent over 30 years working with electronic security systems, and fault finding and repairs are a big part of what I do.
I'll always try to find the actual cause of the problem rather than simply recommending replacement equipment.

When did you last check your CCTV was actually recording? 👀

Most security systems sit quietly in the background for months — sometimes years — without anyone giving them much thought.
Until they're needed.

That's when you don't want to discover:
📹 A camera has stopped working🌧️ A dirty lens has ruined the image💾 The hard drive has developed a fault📅 You're not retaining as much footage as you thought🌙 Night-time images aren't as good as they should be📱 Your app or notifications aren't working correctly⚠️ A fault has been sitting unnoticed

After 30+ years working with security systems, I've seen plenty of small problems that could have been picked up before they became bigger ones.

A security system isn't much use if you only discover it isn't working after an incident.

Regular maintenance can help keep your CCTV, intruder alarm, door access or gate system working as it should — and potentially identify problems before they become expensive repairs.

And importantly:
I can service, repair and maintain existing systems — even if I didn't originally install them.

So if you've inherited a CCTV system, changed premises, lost contact with your previous installer or simply haven't had your system checked for a while, that's not a problem.

Security isn't just CCTV. 🔐📹

One thing I've learned after 30+ years in the security industry is that good security is about looking at the whole property — not just fitting cameras.

CCTV is brilliant for monitoring and evidence, but sometimes the real vulnerability is somewhere else.
It could be:

🚪 Who can gain access to the building🚨 Whether an intruder is detected before they get inside🚧 An unsecured gate or perimeter📹 A blind spot in the CCTV coverage🔑 Poor control over keys or access

That's why I prefer to look at what you're actually trying to protect and where the risks are before recommending equipment.
For one property, CCTV might be all that's required.
For another, the better solution might be CCTV working alongside an intruder alarm, door access or automated gates and barriers.
And that doesn't mean you need everything.
It means choosing the right combination for your property, your risks and your budget.
After 30+ years doing this, I'd much rather tell somebody they don't need something than sell them equipment that isn't going to improve their security.

Your CCTV recorded the burglar. Great… but wouldn't you rather have stopped them? 👀
CCTV has changed a lot over the years.
A traditional system might give you good footage to look back at after something has happened.
Modern CCTV can potentially do much more.
Depending on the system, cameras can:
🚨 Detect people entering selected areas📱 Send an alert directly to your phone💡 Trigger warning lights🔊 Sound an audible warning🎤 Allow two-way communication🎯 Reduce unnecessary alerts by distinguishing people and vehicles.

Imagine somebody entering your driveway at 2am.
Instead of finding out the following morning, your CCTV can potentially tell you while it's happening.
That's a very different type of security.

And here's something existing CCTV owners may not realise:
You don't necessarily have to replace your entire system to benefit from newer technology.
In some cases, existing equipment and cabling can be retained while particular cameras or equipment are upgraded.

After 30+ years working with security systems, I believe CCTV should be designed to do more than provide a nice recording of what you've already lost.
It should help protect it in the first place.
