🔨 Utility Room Upgrade – Coaltown of Balgonie

A returning client got in touch looking to upgrade her utility room. She had a specific blue in mind to match her floor tiles, and the old units couldn’t be painted – so new ones were built to size.

She also needed the corner unit to be movable to allow easy access to the plumbing, so I built it on wheels, secure in place but simple to move if needed.

Once everything was built, it went off to be professionally sprayed in that perfect shade of blue. Came up spot on. 👌

🪚 BESPOKE JOINERY | EDINBURGH PROJECT - with unreal views of the castle 😍

Here’s a recent commission for clients Alison and her husband, who own an incredible double-upper 19th-century apartment in the centre of Edinburgh. 😍

They had a clear vision and wanted to keep costs sensible, so we used IKEA internal drawers, then built custom shaker fronts and cabinetry to fit their space perfectly.

As you can imagine, the property came with all the quirks of a home full of character 😍 curved ceilings, uneven walls, and the usual surprises you find in older buildings.

I met with the clients at their property, discussed the design and measurements in detail, then built everything by hand back in my workshop on St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy.

Hiya everyone 👋

If you know our family, you’ll know my wife Franki moved Bee Mortgage Wise into her new office on St Clair Street earlier this year. The unit next door was sitting empty so I grabbed it.

I’ve been wanting to get things more in line with the kind of work I actually love doing.
I’m a joiner by trade but I do a fair bit of bespoke stuff too.
Think handmade kitchens, custom storage, libraries, media walls and smaller commissions like furniture or play pieces for the kids (our 2 year old loves it)!

Of course, I still take on the everyday joinery too - renovations, extensions, doors, windows, all that solid, hands-on work.
I’ve got a reliable team of trades around me, so I can pull everything together if you’re after a full project.

This new space on St Clair Street will soon be L. Imrie Joinery & Workshop - a proper workshop where traditional joinery meets modern design.
