A day on the tools at Pristine Gardens 🌱🚜

Strimming to start, tractor mowing with the hi-dump grass box, then finishing off with the battery mower.

A bit of everything, a fair bit of grass, and another day getting jobs done.

Keep an eye on the tractor footage, though… 👀 Something catches your eye if you're paying attention!

We don't just do the finished results — here's a look at some of the work that goes into them.

What would you rather see more of — the machinery at work or the behind-the-scenes side of the job?

A few different jobs from the team today 🌿

From clearing brambles growing over the top of a tall wall and disinfecting artificial grass affected by pet urine, to digging out bindw**d-infested soil and replacing it with fresh compost and farm manure. 🌱

We’ve also been freshening things up with new plants, removing an extremely spiky pyracantha and trimming back some paving slabs to make more room for a rose bed. 🌹

No two jobs are quite the same, but the aim is always the same — leaving things looking better than we found them.

Not all w**ds are as easy to get rid of as they look! 🌱😅
A bit of careful teasing with a fork and you can pull out some seriously impressive tap roots, helping remove the w**d rather than just chopping the top off.

Ever wondered what actually comes out of your lawn when you scarify it? 👀🌱

We’ve put together a quick walkthrough showing how we use our scarifier and what after treatments we apply, followed by a look at the amount of moss and thatch it’s pulled out!

All that material sitting in the lawn can restrict airflow and affect how water gets through to the soil. Scarifying helps remove the build-up and gives the grass a better chance to recover and grow well.

It can look a bit brutal while it’s being done, but sometimes you need to take a step back to move the lawn forward!

Pristine Problems 🔧🚜

Another roller mower with a broken drive system!
We rarely seem to get more than a couple of seasons out of these, so I’ve got a pretty good idea where to look for wear.
Had a look at the usual suspect areas, but everything seems OK this time. Looks like this one might be something a bit more mechanical.
Now I just need to find the time to strip it down and investigate properly… easier said than done when there’s a business to run and jobs to get out the door! 😂
Another job added to the workshop list. Hopefully I’ll get to the bottom of it soon!

This conifer was nearly as wide as it was tall! 🌲✂️
A fair bit of reduction needed, with plenty of chainsaw work involved to bring it back under control.
It was a full-on day on site, so we didn't get much footage, but we got the job done!
Another day, another garden transformed by the team at Pristine Gardens Ltd.

What was hiding underneath this lawn? 👀

This one needed a bit more than simply stripping the old grass and putting new topsoil down.

Once we started digging, we found plenty of gravel, some sizeable boulders, bricks, poor soil… and even an old axe head! 😂

We’ve gone right back to the subsoil, broken it up, got the levels right and then brought in 5 tonnes of fresh, loamy topsoil ready for the next stage.

In the video I explain why getting the levels and foundations right is so important — and why the same principles apply when we’re doing hard landscaping.

Out with the old, in with the new. 🌱

And yes… “Every day I’m shuffling” may have made an appearance while compacting it. 😄

Varied day out with Henry today.

Putting the Husqvarna battery kit through its paces on some end-of-season orchard strimming, before moving onto some seriously steep banks.

I used a rope and harness for support and, once I’d deemed it safe, Henry was keen to have a go too.

It certainly made working on the banks a lot more manageable, but it also got me thinking about the training side of using ropes and harnesses away from tree work.

My ticket is specifically for tree work, so if anyone on here has experience with rope access / steep bank work, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the correct approach.

Always something new to learn! 👌

Pristine Problems 🚨

Oil level too high warning has come up on one of the vehicles.

Checked the dipstick and it’s definitely higher than it should be, and the oil has a noticeable diesel smell to it.

Not one I’m going to ignore, so it’s off to the garage to find out exactly what’s going on.

Initial thoughts are that we may have diesel getting into the sump somehow, but I’ll let the garage confirm that one.

Another day, another job to sort 🤦‍♂️

Getting the detail right 👌

Had a look at some hedge work recently and wasn’t quite happy with a few bits, so I went through with Jack and Henry exactly how I wanted them cut.

Jack’s been back on them today with that in mind and has done a cracking job.

Always good to see the lads taking something on board and putting it into practice.

Ivy removal is next on the list 💫
