Water got into an outdoor electrical switch which caused it to burn out and arc. As you can see in the photos, the inside of the unit has been badly damaged and was no longer safe to use.

We attended the property and replaced the faulty switched fused spur so the outside lights could be used again safely.

Outdoor electrics are constantly exposed to rain and weather, and if water gets inside, it can quickly cause damage and become a safety risk.

If you have any outdoor lights or sockets that are not working properly, get in touch today for a free quote.

A recent cooker circuit installation completed for a customer, and this one was a little different from your average job.

The kitchen is located on the top floor of the property, while the consumer unit is situated in the living room on the ground floor. Running the new circuit internally would have involved lifting flooring and creating significantly more disruption throughout the home.

After discussing the available options, the client agreed that the best solution was to route the new cooker circuit externally around the property. This allowed us to install the circuit with minimal disruption while still achieving a neat and professional finish.

Every property presents its own challenges, and there is rarely a one size fits all approach. Taking the time to assess the installation and discuss the available options with the customer ensures the most practical and cost effective solution is achieved.

Another happy customer and a new cooker circuit installed safely and ready for use.

Two EICRs completed in one day and this socket back box was definitely one of the standout findings.

Years of wear and tear, previous alterations and a lack of maintenance have left it in a condition that is far from ideal. While it is not something that can be ignored, it is exactly the kind of issue that a thorough Electrical Installation Condition Report is designed to identify.

Safe to say we will be returning at a later date to replace this socket back box and bring it back up to a safe and satisfactory standard.

Regular electrical inspections are not just about ticking a box. They help uncover hidden defects, signs of deterioration and potential safety concerns before they develop into more serious problems.

If your property is due an EICR, or you are unsure when it was last inspected, get in touch with Ready To Rewire your local electrician in Kidderminster.

The image showing the cable with its inner colours exposed is part of an addition that looks to have been installed by a DIY enthusiast who clearly didn’t understand that no single insulation should ever be visible outside of an electrical enclosure.

Proper containment and safe installation are essential, even if everything appears to be working at the time ⚡

If you are unsure about any electrical work in your home or have anything that doesn’t look quite right, get it checked by a qualified electrician before it becomes a serious issue. Message us today to book an electrical check or quote

The brown circular boxes are junction boxes and these had clearly been overheating at some point. Even though the lights were still working, there were underlying issues the homeowner had no idea about.

This was only discovered when we were hired to replace the light fittings. Just because something works, doesn’t always mean it’s safe ⚡

EICR carried out in Cookley, Worcestershire

This installation was in decent condition overall and only needed a few RCBOs added to bring it up to current standards and improve protection across the circuits.

Regular inspections are important for picking up issues early and making sure your electrical installation remains safe and compliant.

“It’s just putting a light up, it’s easy” until you need an electrician to figure out why half the lights in your house have stopped working.

This “joint” might look fine or normal to some people, but it’s not installed correctly. You should never see tape wrapped around electrical connections like this. Any joint should be enclosed in a suitable junction box, or installed properly to the manufacturer’s instructions. We can assure you those instructions do not involve wrapping insulation tape around connectors.

Some people may think this is being picky, but these are exactly the sort of connections we’ve seen over the years that can lead to serious problems, including electrical fires.

Electrical work is not just about making it work today, it’s about making sure it stays safe for years to come.

We are ready to make you feel safe in you're home, are you?

This may just seem like a loose back box
“oh well, no harm done aye?”

Well actually, over time this can cause the cable connections behind the socket face to loosen with use. Loose connections can lead to overheating, damaged accessories, and in some cases become a serious fire risk.

It’s the small things like this that should never be ignored when it comes to electrical safety.

If you have a socket that looks like this give us a call todayđŸ“±
