Our latest creation is this dry stone wall we constructed in Overstone, Northampton. A mix of limestone and reclaimed ironstone, the colours have ended up one of my favourite stone blends.

New to us were the half round copings. A real challenge to produce, these wall copings started out as large boulders from the quarry, were sawn into scants and then dressed by hand to the correct shape. The use of Blisworth Limestone and Northampton Ironstone really blends in well with the rest of the wall.

I love the contrast between the modern exterior of the house and the traditional border of the dry stone wall. It's been a real joy chatting with the locals and showing them the craft of dry stone walling, something that is rarely seen in the local area.

1 year ago today I took the leap of setting up as a sole trader in dry stone walling! What a year it has been! Here are some of my projects this past year.

I wasn't too sure how things would pan out but from that first commission, one job has led onto the next. I also achieved my intermediate qualification meaning I was able to register as a professional member of the DSWA.

All of my customers have been so lovely and appreciative of my work (and kept us topped up with coffee & biscuits!).

The last couple of months has been spent pushing forward our natural stone supply company (Cranford Ironstone Co.). We now have a new stone processing yard, new source of ironstone and a new website! We have lots more planned before the year is out!

We completed this wall rebuild today in Weldon, Northants. We had some absolutely stunning reclaimed Weldon stone to use resulting in a very neat, tight jointed finish.

You can see the contrast with the wall we arrived to on Monday! We managed to salvage most of the existing stone but brought in some reclaimed C**k n' Hen, courtesy of Cranford Ironstone Co.

Needless to say, the customer was absolutely delighted and left us a gleaming report.

I look forward to returning for some more pictures when the patio area is built.

The brief: "Create a unique dry stone wall for our looped driveway using features you can find around the farm."

The result: A total of 30m² of dry stone walling with c**k n' hen wall capping, 6 cheek ends (wall ends), 1 water feature and several big feature stones incorporated into the wall. A truly bespoke dry stone wall.
