Look who popped into the garden today! 😍🦋

A hummingbird hawk-moth busy buzzing around the flowers!

I could watch these little guys all day. So lovely to see one enjoying the garden! 🌿

Anyone else spotted one this year?

A few photos from one of my regular clients' gardens that I maintain throughout the year.
The client has a great knowledge of plants and has created a lovely variety of planting throughout both the front and back gardens.
There's always plenty to keep on top of, but it's a really enjoyable garden to work in, with so much colour, texture and interest throughout the seasons.

Looking particularly good at the moment with all the autumn colours coming through! 🍁🌸

🌿 Before & After – what a difference planting can make!
This is a garden belonging to one of my regular clients. The borders already had plenty of space to work with, but the planting needed a bit of a rethink.
I put together a planting plan and have gradually worked on the borders, adding more colour, height and structure while making the most of the space.
I love seeing how a garden develops once the plants start filling out — and there’s still plenty more to come as everything matures.
Swipe through to see the difference ➡️
If you've got a border that's never quite worked or you're just not sure what to plant where, that's exactly the sort of thing I can help with.

🌸 Still plenty of colour in the garden in October!
A few things looking good at the moment — colchicum, cyclamen and hesperantha all doing their bit as we head further into autumn.
I think it's easy to concentrate on spring and summer when planning a border, but having plants that keep things going into autumn makes such a difference.
Always nice to find a bit of colour when everything else is starting to slow down.
What's still flowering in your garden at the moment?

🌱 Free plants!
Found a few little Teucrium hircanicum seedlings popping up in the garden beds, so I've lifted them and potted them on.
One of those little autumn jobs that's always worth doing — keep an eye around established plants for self-seeded youngsters before you're too quick with the weeding!
With a bit of luck these will grow on nicely and give me a few extra plants for next year
Anyone else found any useful self-seeders in their garden this year?

🍂 A few jobs worth doing in the garden this October.

Autumn is definitely here, but there’s still plenty to be getting on with in the garden 🌿
Plant spring bulbs – now's a great time to get daffodils, crocus and alliums in for colour next year. I tend to leave tulips until a little later.
Plant perennials – while the soil is still relatively warm, autumn can be a brilliant time to get new plants established.
Don't cut everything back – I like leaving plenty of seed heads and grasses standing. They add structure through winter and can be useful for wildlife too.
Make use of fallen leaves – collect them for leaf mould rather than seeing them as waste.
Move or divide plants – October can be a good opportunity to divide congested perennials and rethink anything that's in the wrong place.
👀 Look at your borders now – this is actually a really useful time to spot what's missing. Are there gaps? Not enough structure? Has all the colour disappeared?
That last one is often where next year's garden starts 😊
What jobs are you getting done in the garden this month?

🥇 A little bit about me and what I’m now offering…
This year I was incredibly pleased to receive a Gold Medal for my show garden at Gardeners’ World Live at the NEC.
I’d now like to bring that same approach to local gardens.
🌿 I’m offering bespoke planting plans for anyone who has a border or garden that they’re struggling with — whether you don’t know what plants to choose, want more colour throughout the year, or simply want everything to work better together.
I can design a planting scheme around your garden, conditions, style and budget, giving you a clear plan and plant list to work from.
Plans start from £95.
But rather than just posting another advert, I thought I’d do something a little different:
📸 If you have a border you don’t know what to do with, put a photo in the comments or send it to me privately.
I’ll happily take a look and suggest one thing I’d change or improve — no obligation.
You might be surprised what a few carefully chosen plants can do. 🌸🌿

A regular client’s garden looking remarkably good despite the current drought. 🌿🌸
With weeks of dry weather and very little rainfall, conditions have certainly been challenging, but the established planting is proving just how resilient a well-planned garden can be.
Plenty of late-summer colour, texture and life, with the flowers still providing a valuable source of food for bees and other pollinators. 🐝
Regular maintenance and choosing the right plants really does pay off, especially in a summer like this. ☀️
