🌲 EXPERIENCED CHAINSAW OPERATOR / ARBORIST WANTED 🌲

KSM Forest & Land – Aberdeenshire

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Chainsaw Operator / Climbing Arborist to join our team.

This is a full-time, permanent position, although experienced self-employed applicants will also be considered.

The role will involve a mixture of forestry and arboricultural chainsaw work across Aberdeenshire and surrounding areas.

The role will include:

* Felling and processing large trees
* Climbing, dismantling and pruning
* Assisted and winch-assisted felling
* Forestry, estate and commercial tree work
* Clearing windblown and dangerous trees
* Site clearance and working alongside forestry machinery
* Daily checks and maintenance of chainsaws and climbing equipment

Essential qualifications:

* CS30
* CS31
* CS32
* CS38
* CS39
* First Aid +F

Essential requirements:

* Proven experience in large-tree felling
* Competent and confident tree climber
* Experience dismantling and pruning trees
* Strong practical chainsaw skills
* Good understanding of health and safety
* Full UK driving licence
* Reliable, physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather

Desirable:

* CS41
* Assisted felling and windblown-tree qualifications
* Experience working around forestry machinery

Experienced Chainsaw / Forestry Operator

KSM Forest & Land is looking for an experienced Chainsaw / Forestry Operator to join our growing team based in Aberdeenshire.

This is a varied, full-time role working across forestry, arboriculture and land management projects throughout Scotland.

The Role

You will be involved in:

* Large tree felling.
* Driving and operating a Valtra tractor with Kesla timber trailer and crane.
* Operating an Energreen RobofIFTI remote-controlled mulcher.
* Forestry mulching and vegetation clearance.
* Winching operations.
* Assisting with harvesting and site clearance projects by felling large trees and outside edge trees
* Daily machine checks and routine maintenance.

Essential Requirements:

* Relevant NPTC/Lantra chainsaw qualifications.
* Proven experience felling large trees.
* First Aid + F
* Experience carrying out winching operations.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Strong understanding of safe working practices.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to stay away from home when required for certain contracts.

Desirable:

* Experience operating forestry tractors and timber trailers.
* Experience operating remote-controlled mulchers.
* First Aid +F.

A dusty one this morning as we opened up an old disused path for a local building company.

Once all the wildlife surveys were done and everything was checked to make sure there was no wildlife hiding in amongst the overgrowth we were required to clear the vegetation and carry out tree pruning to create sufficient space for the construction of a new footpath and the installation of street lighting. Using our robot forestry mulcher, we processed all vegetation and tree branches on site, leaving a clean, safe and tidy working area.

With the path opened up and the overhanging growth removed, the groundworks team now has plenty of room to carry out the next phase of the project safely and efficiently.
