We are delighted to share the news that we’ve opened an office in Oldmeldrum! 💙

Over the past 10 years, we’ve celebrated some big milestones - from starting the business, to hiring our first employee in 2022, growing the team, rebranding the company… and now, having a place of our very own.

Designing the new space has been great fun, but one of the real highlights has to be the lovely new coffee machine! ☕

We’re pleased to share the successful completion of a two-storey extension and internal refurbishment at a working bus depot in Sheffield.🚌

One of the key challenges on this project was delivering the works while the depot remained fully operational. With careful planning, close collaboration with the client and contractor, and a strong focus on health and safety, we kept everything running smoothly throughout.

The result is a high-quality, modern workspace providing enhanced offices alongside improved staff and driver facilities, supporting both functionality and wellbeing.

January Studio Update - Azuora Architects ✨
It’s been a busy and exciting period for the team here at Azuora, so we wanted to share some brilliant projects we have been working on and a new addition to the team!

👋 Team Update
We’re delighted to welcome Kathryn, who has joined the practice as an Architect. She brings a fantastic background of experience and has been settling in very easily.😊

📍 Tobermory, Isle of Mull
Planning permission has been submitted for a new Co-op retail development supporting the local community.

📍 Stockton-on-Tees
Planning permission has been approved for the Stagecoach Bus Depot. This new depot will complement the recently installed EV chargers to become a "depot of the future," making it among the first fully electric bus depots in the North East.⚡

📍 Distillery Project
We’re currently working on an exciting distillery project in Scotland – have a look at the gorgeous historic gates, this says a lot about how stunning the site and existing buildings are.

📍 Inverurie, Aberdeenshire
Planning permission has been granted for a large two-storey extension to a private dwelling which will provide an entertainment wing for the family. The extension utilises the gently sloping site, stepping down to create height and volume to the open plan zones.

📍 Former Water Treatment Works
We’re currently developing drawings for the conversion of an old water treatment works, exploring residential or holiday-let use for a private client. See a picture of the old treatment works – this has been a fun project to work on!

🏛️ Architect – Full-time | Oldmeldrum (office based with Flexible WFH)

Join our small, design-led studio in Oldmeldrum. Established 9 years and led by an Architect with 25+ years’ experience. We deliver local and UK-wide projects including commercial, residential, retail & new-build homes.

We’re looking for:
An Architect with 5 years’ + post-grad experience who thrives on varied projects and hands-on responsibility.

What you’ll do:
• Lead projects across all RIBA stages
• Produce drawings (AutoCAD as minimum and ideally produce 3D models using Revit/SketchUp)
• Prepare planning & technical documentation
• Coordinate with clients, consultants & contractors

What we’re looking for:
• Experience in commercial & residential projects
• Knowledge of Scottish/UK planning & building regs
• Confident in AutoCAD, Revit/SketchUp & MS Office
• ARB registered
Strong leadership skills

Planning has now officially been approved for our latest EV charging scheme in London — an exciting step forward for sustainable transport in the city.

The proposal includes 70 new overhead charging points, designed to support a more efficient and future-ready electric fleet.
Below are two drawings showcasing the overhead charging concept, along with a reference photo (not from the actual project, and kindly supplied by the subcontractor) that gives a feel for how the system will look once complete.

Great to be working with a great team on a project that pushes forward London’s net-zero ambitions and supports cleaner, smarter mobility.

Exciting progress! After months of design and development, our proposal for the new Co-op building in Insch has been submitted for planning approval.

Co-op bosses want to relocate their shop in the heart of Insch to a bigger, purpose-built complex.

New Bus Depot, East London

Azuora Architects are proud to be guiding an exciting new replacement bus depot through the planning phase.

This project will bring together several smaller depots into a new Head Office and fully electric bus operation hub, streamlining services while championing sustainability.

🏢 The depot will feature:

Net Zero Carbon design
Extensive workshops and modern office facilities
Rooftop terraces & amenity zones for staff
A Bio-solar roof and enhanced landscape with native trees & shrubs

🌱 With a target of BREEAM Very Good, the scheme will minimise embodied carbon through efficient design and responsible sourcing, reducing emissions by 93.4% over Building Regulations.
