Creativity takes time to evolve….

This is a piece I’ve been hoarding for a while.

I kept it for so long as sometimes you just need inspiration. I loved its original worn and aged patina that I was debating for a while whether to leave it as it was with a good clean but I made the decision last week to paint it.

It’s a very solid heavy stone vase with lots of original patina on it that I’ve enhanced and added my own magic to!

🤎 FULL REVEAL 🤎

It’s not often I take on already painted projects as there’s so much time consuming work involved in stripping a usually bad paint job back to bare wood.

I’d had this in stock a while and fancied getting creative in between a large commission I’m currently working on.

As this wasn’t a commission piece I decided to still scuff sand the bad paint job but I didn’t completely remove its finish instead I worked with it.

What was a boring thick horrible white paint job I added texture to it in a neutral light grey shade much nicer and more sophisticated than the white and then layered paints and wax adding depth and different subtle tones to create a stone effect top and a wood effect on the legs.

Would you believe paint and a little technique created this? I think it looks fabulous for a faux stone and wood effect!

❤️All Ready to be loved again ❤️

This piece wasn’t in the best condition when it arrived in my workshop but with a little sprinkle of Finn Interiors magic it’s now standing proud.

With most vintage furniture it still has a few tiny flaws but these are now embraced in the design and usually unnoticeable to anyone else’s eye. They tell its story.

From old, worn and damaged to romantic, elegant and timeless I’m proud of this transformation.
