🧥 A LITTLE HELP CAN GO A LONG WAY ❤️

We’ve seen the appeal from The Havering Daily for children’s coats and we wanted to do our bit.

⚡ AN EICR IS ONLY AS USEFUL AS THE ACTION TAKEN AFTER IT ⚡

Following an EICR inspection, a number of issues were identified at this property and the landlord agreed for the necessary remedial works to be carried out.

There was quite a bit to address, including:

🔌 Refitting and securing power outlets
🔧 Reconnecting exposed cables and installing a suitable enclosure
🔥 Fire rating the fuseboard
⚡ Installing an earthing connector block for the main earths
💡 Replacing a ceiling light that had no earth connection

We also found a particularly concerning issue in the boiler cupboard. The immersion tank was being supplied by 1.0mm flex, which was the wrong cable for the application and had resulted in both plug tops showing signs of overheating and burning.

We replaced this with heat resistant 2.5mm flex, connected through a 20A double pole switch, and replaced the burnt double socket with a new LED double socket.

A new switch spur was also installed for the loft light.

Once all the agreed works were completed, everything was tested to ensure the installation was left safe and compliant.

An EICR isn't about finding faults and putting them in a report. It’s about identifying potential problems and getting them addressed before they become something more serious.

For landlords, regular electrical inspections and acting on any remedial recommendations are an important part of keeping rental properties safe for tenants.

⭐ ANOTHER RECOMMENDATION THAT LED TO A HAPPY CUSTOMER ⭐

Gary, a landlord from Romford, was recommended to D&T Electrical Services by one of our existing letting agent clients.

Gary needed a faulty kitchen hob replaced at one of his rental properties, so we arranged the installation and fitted the new unit for his tenant, Kristina.

⭐ ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER IN HAVERING ⭐

Chris from Romford, Havering found D&T Electrical Services through Google and got in touch about having a new light fitted in his hallway.

Here’s what Chris had to say:

“The electrician was on time. I’m very satisfied with the work, quick and efficient. Thanks D&T Electrical Services Ltd.”

While we were there, we also noticed that the outside light had previously been connected the wrong way, so we corrected the connections and got that working as it should.

We also had a look at Chris’s fuseboard, which was positioned in a combustible area under the stairs, with the cover hanging off. We refixed the cover and discussed the options for replacing the board, with a quote to follow.

Chris also asked us about fitting a new floodlight in the back garden and a fan light in the front room, so there’s a little more to come...

And today, we’ve got our work experience student with us again, giving him another opportunity to spend some time with us and see what a day in the electrical trade is really like.

It’s always good to have an extra pair of eyes around, ask questions and get involved, and we’re pleased to be able to give young people opportunities like this.

Our second job took us out to E16 in East London to investigate an issue with the electrical sockets at a local shop. 🔌🏪
