A couple of weeks ago we had a big three day job reducing a number of Cypress trees. The client was concerned about the trees as one of the trees had failed and as the rest were in poor condition, it would be safer to have them all reduced. This decision was made after much deliberation and was the only real option. It was confirmed during the work that some of the trees did have major splits in them and were rightly of concern. By reducing the trees to a more manageable height and with autumn and winter looming, it is hoped they will rejuvenate into a more healthy, safe high hedge. After receiving planning permission and conducting a thorough, negative, bird nest survey, we began the work on the Monday. Thought it would be of interest to see a brief glimpse of the work three crew a van and chipper can do in 3 very warm days!🥵
Thanks to both Mark and Fred for their help on this job, without them it would not have been possible👍👍

The use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS) to conduct tree surgery has increased significantly in the past few years. They negate the need for climbing which, while safe if done properly, does require a lot of effort and can be time consuming. A MEWP provides a safe platform, good access, control and can help get a lot more work done in a day. On this job we removed what looks like one tree but in fact was 5 Cypress trees. The MEWP helped reduce the time needed from 3-4 days to just two days with 4 crew. This saved time but also cost for the client who was very happy with the result.
Thanks to Mark, Sam and Dan for their work on this job.

I have spoken before about Leylandii/Cyprus/Fir trees and that when planted in the right place and managed they can be lovely trees. However, in this instance this group of three one twin stemmed, were causing issues for a number of surrounding gardens. Reduced sunlight, pigeons were causing some mess shall we say and the shade produced by the trees caused grass not to grow in neighbouring gardens. The owner kindly agreed to have the trees greatly reduced to alleviate the problems for all. So on a very warm day and after checking for any active nests we began to reduce these trees down to an acceptable level.
It was not an easy job getting all of the branches out to the chipper and the wood out to our trailer so my sincere thanks to my crew who all worked efficiently and professionally to get the job done on time. Mark (Climber), Sam, Samuel, Dan and Darron who worked with me at the start of my business and came back this weekend!
My crew and I would also like to thank the owner of the trees and all surrounding neighbours for putting up with any disruption caused during a holiday weekend👍

A lot of clients have asked why we pollard certain trees. The answer is we pollard trees to manage their size in urban/garden/public areas in order to prevent infrastructure damage (wires/buildings), reduce overextended high-branch risk, and to promote longevity. Pollarding trees in a garden can also increase light, reduce leaf fall and promote more grass growth where previously grass did not grow.
We pollarded these two willows and a horse chestnut this week reducing the trees in height and increasing light into the garden and allowing the grass to re-establish.
Thanks to Mark, Sam and Dan. Some worked harder than others!!🤣🤣
