🍏 Apples on the tree – such a happy sight to see... and even more so for us!
This is such a rewarding moment. Careful pruning, with science applied, has finally paid off. 🌱
Four years ago, this tree was topped, leaving it with large pruning wounds, severe damage and multiple tear-outs.
When we first started caring for it, it was trapped in a vegetative growth cycle. The shock of the previous pruning had caused significant stress and disrupted its natural hormone balance, so instead of producing fruit buds, it was putting all of its energy into vigorous, fruitless woody growth.
To make matters worse, it was covered in woolly aphids, and many thought there was little hope of it ever fruiting again.
Just 15 months later, with the right pruning, ongoing care and a little patience, it has produced its first crop of apples! 🍏
Trees have an incredible ability to recover when they're managed correctly. Understanding tree biology and working with it—not against it—can make all the difference.
