Guilsborough Fire Station is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone within our team.
Watch Commander Mark Hazle has surpassed 20 years of service with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Reaching 20 years service is a testament to his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting and serving the communities where he lives and works.

Mark joined the fire service with a simple but powerful ambition: to help keep his community safe. What he values most about the role is the camaraderie among the crew and the opportunity to make a positive difference to people during challenging situations. After two decades of dedicated service, Mark still loves what he does, which is an achievement he is incredibly proud of. When he's not serving the community, you'll likely find him clocking up the miles on one of his endurance runs across the county, so keep an eye out...

Congratulations, Mark, on 20 years of outstanding service.

Thank you for your leadership, your knowledge, your terrible banter and for all you have done, and continue to do, for Guilsborough Fire Station and the people of Northamptonshire. 🚒👏

Another fantastic weekend for the crew at the Hollowell Steam Rally - One of our favourite events on the calendar.

It was a great opportunity to meet so many people from the local community, share important fire safety advice, and raise awareness about how everyone can help keep themselves and their families safe.

We even had a visit from Titan the Robot, who seemed to take quite a shine to our fire engine!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We always enjoy being part of this brilliant event and look forward to seeing you all again next year.

With the warmer summer weather, water may look inviting, but the temperature of the water can be low enough to cause 'Cold Water Shock'.
Parents - make sure your children are aware of the dangers about jumping in, things can quickly go wrong, even for strong swimmers:

- Cold water shock
- Hidden hazards under the surface
- Strong currents and unseen forces
- Shallow or changing depths
- Impact injuries from height (tombstoning)

Make sure they know what to do if someone gets into trouble in the water:
❌ Don’t jump in
✅ Call 999
✅ Use something to help from the side (ball, stick, life ring)

Remember: Float to Live if you fall in unexpectedly.

🔥 We’re recruiting On‑Call Firefighters! 🔥

Looking for a role that’s rewarding, flexible, and makes a real difference in your community? Join Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service as an on‑call firefighter.
As a member of our on‑call crew you could be from any walk of life — teachers, mechanics, gardeners, parents, business owners and more. No previous experience is needed; we’ll provide full training. What matters most is enthusiasm, a good level of fitness, and the ability to reach your local fire station within 8 minutes when your pager sounds.

As an on‑call firefighter, you’ll not just deal with fires and will respond to a variety of incidents and activities including:
🚒 Attending road collisions
🏊‍♂️ Water rescues
💧 Assist at floods
🐾 Rescue animals
🗣 Share safety advice at community events

We are a welcoming, inclusive Service and particularly keen to hear from people available during the day or those with flexible work or family commitments.

Interested? Ready to make a difference?
📅 Apply by 12 February 2026

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to follow advice and have fun safely during the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

We would always recommend only attending organised firework and bonfire displays but urge members of the public that are planning on holding their own display to do so safely to avoid causing fires and injuries.

Darren Carson, Prevention Team Leader at Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “While the number of fires we attend during this period is reducing year by year, we still want to urge people to follow safety advice to keep themselves, their families and their homes safe.

“It is a fun time of year and we want people to enjoy fireworks and bonfires, but we really encourage members of the public to only go to an official display and avoid having them in back gardens.

“If you do have your own display or bonfire and it gets out of control, or you see any unattended fires, please always call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.”

Guilsborough Fire Station recently had the privilege of hosting a visit from the local Brownie Group. The fire crew spent the evening teaching the group about fire safety and their own responsibilities in the household. We then had some brilliant Q&A followed by some target practice with our hose reel. There were even questions about how to join the service. 🚒👍🏽
