Cherry tree dismantled in Gravesend due to the roots moving fence post, it was only when it was cut down completely that very early signs of butt rot were seen, Cherry trees often get butt rot, so it was a good idea to take the tree down as otherwise it would probably have fallen over in about 5 years. Looking at the pics the darker colour in the wood is the early signs, but if you look at the side cut you can see how it travels up the trunk.

Wildlife garden in Surrey, slowly being engulfed by bracken, although bracken plays a part in wildlife gardens other plants can suffer for light.

Some bracken was left in this managed wildlife garden but once some areas of it were removed by pulling the stems up a variety of self set wildflowers were uncovered. Located were common orchid, rose campion and foxglove, all these plants will now flourish with the sky above them opened up.

Roses are starting to show new growth and flower buds are forming, but as the flower buds form the whitefly and greenfly are attracted to them, sucking out the sweet sap from the rose buds, there are various ways of removing them, you can squash them, hot water spray will help control them or use a systemic insecticide, systemic means that the plants leaves absorb the insecticide so when ever a insect sucks the sap out or a caterpillar munches the leaves it ends up being poisoned by the systemic insecticide. We generally use bug clear but there are many suitable insecticides for sale in the retailers,
