Daisy Art Fine Artist I then repeated this process four times until the whole canvas was covered in small squares bursting with colour.

This is a little bit about the some of the work that I make and the things I enjoy...

Artists Statement

Initially I executed my work using a process that deals with intricate mark making within a mathematical grid. I prepared the canvas by applying tape to mask out the grid lines; this allowed me to paint tiny brush stokes of colour within each individual square. Colour, brush marks and thicknes

s of paint are all very important in my work, they allow me to be expressive and free and counterbalance the intricate structure of the finished painting. After a period of experimentation with these abstract canvases I introduced figurative painting into my work. Playing with form allowed me to put my work into a new context and mark making began to take over, to the extent of losing the grid completely. A consistent underlying theme has been my interest in nostalgia, memory and subconscious recollections. It could be just a single colour, texture or line that triggers the memory or even just the mood that a painting evokes. These latest paintings combine tranquil scenes with almost macabre and mysterious figures. The mark making is intrinsic to creating these emotions and the viewer is left to wonder on a story untold.
