The only thing better than completing your first project for a new client is being asked back to deliver the second. For us, that’s always one of the best measures of a successful first project — delivering what we said we would and earning the opportunity to work together again. Our second project for the client sees ESS (CE) Ltd providing contingency support should the need arise for the installation and extraction of temporary cofferdams across a United Utilities AMP8 project in the North West.

Over the last three weeks, the ESS (CE) Ltd team has successfully delivered two projects for a brand-new client in the North West, hopefully these have showcased our abilities as a business. First a king post wall and then second a sheet piled wall, demonstrating to our client the two core elements of our business and our specialist retaining wall capabilities.
A huge thank you to everyone involved from our dedicated supply chain, ESS staff and our client for entrusting the works to us. From planning and mobilisation through to ex*****on and completion, the team once again delivered to the high standards we pride ourselves on.
We're looking forward to building on this relationship and continuing to deliver practical, specialist solutions for our clients.

Mobilisation Monday! It’s been a while since we’ve said that! The team is mobilising this morning in Stockport for a new client, tackling a tricky and spatially challenging project. We’re installing a temporary king post retaining wall to facilitate the construction of an RC wall for a residential development. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one!

Quite often I get asked, “What do you do for a living?”

Because the question comes from all sorts of people — some within the industry and others completely outside of it — I’m always trying to find a straightforward answer without sounding too boring or overly technical.

Well, thanks to a current project in the Midlands for a national housebuilder, I can probably let the video do the talking, showing people the two main aspects of our business in one video.

From king post retaining walls through to sheet piled retaining solutions, this is a good snapshot of what the ESS (CE) Ltd team do day in, day out.

At ESS (CE) Ltd, we have built our reputation around king post and sheet piled retaining walls. Typically, we come in as the specialist subcontractor, deliver our scope, and work alongside other support trades for the rest.
On a current project for a repeat client, we have been asked to carry out works outside our normal scope, with works including setting out, pile platform design, platform supply and install, CBR testing and excavation works package.
This means we can keep things joined up from the start and give the client a single point of responsibility.
From experience, it’s often the gaps between trades where issues arise. By getting involved in that space, we can remove a lot of the uncertainty and help the job run smoother.

It’s a good example of how we’re happy to step beyond our usual scope where it genuinely adds value to the project.
