This is an install we carried out this week for an estate agent company Invest In Scottish Properties who specialise in renovating homes that have fallen into disrepair and need a little bit of TLC.

Removing the old gas fire alongside and widening the opening for a grander and more welcoming looking fireplace.

Not everyone is keen on a functional fireplace and they'd much rather the aesthetic that it brings in tying the room together rather than a fireplace that does what its supposed to, here we had a client who had this damaged wall above their hidden fireplace when they moved in and wanted something traditional looking without an open fire or logburner, so we stripped the wall back, dug everything out and created a decorative fireplace that they could paint the inside to suit the room and it could be used in the future for a logburner should they desire it! (look at photo 2).
