We handed phase one of this commercial project over last week and within days Scott and Russel were back on site starting phase two.

When a customer sees the standard of the work and the way everything was handled from start to finish, they don’t need to look anywhere else.

Not every job is a full renovation.

This was a straightforward swap, an old radiator out and a heated towel rail in.

This gave a completely different feeling when you walk into the shower room.

Warm towels waiting for you on a cold winters morning 😍 that’s the real upgrade 😉

There comes a point for a lot of people where something as simple as getting in and out of the bath starts to feel difficult and uncertain.

Not impossible, just uncertain and that uncertainty creeps into your head every single morning.

This customer knew what she needed.

She wasn’t looking for a complete transformation or a dramatic new look.

She just wanted her bathroom to feel safe again so she could get on with her day without giving it a second thought.

We removed the bath and fitted a walk in shower with an anti slip tray and new wall boards and flooring to finish it off properly.

She can get in & get out without having to worry about slipping or hurting herself now.

Last week we got to spend time with Mike Soutar.

If you watch The Apprentice you’ll know exactly who he is…..the interviewer who has reduced candidates to silence with one question for over a decade.

In real life he’s warm, sharp and one of the most interesting people I’ve heard speak.

He took FHM from 35,000 copies to over 500,000. He co-founded Shortlist Media from scratch and loads more.

I always like to wright down wee quotes and the one that stands out most always gets stars next to it on the notepad so thought I would share.

“It’s never about the idea. It’s always about the execution.”

We hear a lot about big visions and bold plans. Mike’s whole story is about showing up, doing the unglamorous work and outlasting everyone else who had the same idea but didn’t follow through.

Sitting in that room listening to him I kept thinking this is exactly what we are trying to build with PFF, I know it won’t happen overnight and we don’t want to take shortcuts but we do know that we need to put the work in, over and over, and get better each time.

It was exactly what I needed to hear this week.

Let me tell you about this one….i wasn’t going to share this, but it gives you an insight into some of the things that happen in business 😭

We went to fit a utility room and a towel rail for a customer.

Everything went up beautifully (in Scotts words) the units looked amazing, the towel rail was perfect, we were happy, the customer was happy.

And then just after we left she noticed the units were the wrong colour. 😭😭

We checked the boxes.

Sure enough - the merchant had sent the wrong ones and btw because this is a new build house the units took a while to arrive (longer than the usual wait time)

Two very similar shades and nobody caught it until it was all up on the wall.

Now we’re waiting on the right colour arriving and we’ll go back and do it all again and this time the handles should also have arrive.

No argument, no debate. Mistakes happen in the industry the main thing is we held our hands up, tbh we are as disappointed as the customer probably feels, but at the end of the day it was the wrong colour and we dealt with the merchant promptly to point out the error, and made sure the right colour was out on order, once it arrives we will be heading back to our customers and take out the units we fitted and get the right colour fitted 😅

There’s probably a room in your home that you walk past every day and think about.

Maybe it’s the bathroom that’s been the same since you moved in 🚽

The kitchen that’s a bit dated, or that you would love to open up to make brighter, bigger, and finally have the kitchen of your dreams. 🧑‍🍳

The utility room that’s become a dumping ground but you know you can utilise the space better.

A loft with so much space, doing nothing, that could be converted into a master bedroom with en-suite finally giving the kids a room each. 😃

And every year you think - I’ll do it next year or when the time is right.

With home renovations and refurbishing the longer you leave them the more they bother you and annoy you and before you know it ten years have passed and the room is still exactly the same.

The disruption feels big and overwhelming but the reality is it’s almost always shorter and less painful than people expect.

And the feeling on the other side?

That feeling when you have your new kitchen, or new bathroom it’s the best feeling in the world.

Hey 👋 we’re Leanne and Scott, the two behind Premium Fit and Finish.

We wanted to properly introduce ourselves and share how this all actually started, because it wasn’t the plan we set out with.

We’d both spent years building our own businesses separately, Scott in the trade, Leanne in beauty and training, but we’d never worked inside each other’s world until now.

Back in May, Scott walked away from a successful business and overnight, our income was gone 💩 .

One Saturday back in May 2025 we had to have some honest conversations to properly work out what came next, start again from scratch, or for Scott to go and get a job.

Leanne had already stepped back from her salons to concentrate on the marketing side, and it just made sense for us to build something together.

She didn’t know his industry, and he didn’t know a thing about marketing, but somehow that’s exactly why it’s worked.

We’re still very early days, and we’re building as we go, but the diary is booking up, the quotes are going out, and we’ve even picked up commercial work we didn’t expect this soon.

We built Premium Fit and Finish (PFF) the way we’d want a company to treat our own home.

That’s the whole point of it, and we’re excited for you to be part of it with us.

These mean more than you know 🥰

When you’re building something from scratch again, every single review matters.

We’re not a big faceless company with hundreds of them.

Every one that comes in gets screenshotted, shared between us and genuinely celebrated. 😂

We know life is busy and we know being asked for a review can feel like one more thing on the list and we also know most people mean to do it and just never quite get round to it (because I’ve been there too lol), we get it, we really do.

But for a small business just finding its feet, a few kind words from a customer takes two minutes of their time and can make all the difference to someone choosing to pick up the phone to us or scrolling past.
