Sometimes the real problem only becomes clear once the job is being taken apart.

On this boiler, Dominic found that the telescopic flue had not been assembled correctly. When it was removed, part of the flue came apart and dropped into the wall cavity.

A properly qualified Gas Safe registered engineer would know how the flue should be assembled, secured and installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

This is exactly why gas work should never be left to chance.

✅ Job sorted.

Following on from our previous video, Dominic returned to correct a boiler installation that had not been completed safely.

The flue has now been installed and sealed correctly, a new thermostat has been fitted, and the condensate pipework has been adapted outside.

During the work, it became clear that the original telescopic flue had not been assembled correctly, which meant a replacement flue was needed to complete the job safely.

Most importantly, the customer now has heating and hot water again.

This is why it is so important to use a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer for boiler work. Getting it done correctly protects your home, your heating system and your safety.

⚠️ This is why you should always check your engineer is Gas Safe registered.

Dominic was called out to a customer whose boiler had been installed by someone who claimed they could carry out gas work, but it later came to light that they were not Gas Safe registered.

When checks were carried out, several issues were found, including problems with the flue and pipework. As the boiler had not been correctly checked and signed off by a Gas Safe registered engineer, it was deemed unsafe to use.

Gas work should always be carried out by a properly qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. It protects your home, your heating system and, most importantly, your safety.
