🎨 PAINTER & DECORATOR WANTED

We’re looking for an experienced Painter & Decorator to join the Building Etc team.

We work on a wide variety of high-quality projects across Exeter and Devon, including period and listed properties, renovations, refurbishments, extensions and occupied homes.

For us, decorating is about much more than putting paint on a wall. Preparation, attention to detail and a really good finish matter.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has good experience in internal and external decorating
• Understands the importance of thorough preparation
• Takes pride in producing a high-quality finish
• Is clean, tidy and respectful when working in clients’ homes
• Is reliable and works well as part of a team
• Has a full UK driving licence

This is an employed position and an opportunity to become part of an established, friendly team working on some genuinely interesting properties and projects.

Yettington Cart Shed & Piggery Conversion

A lovely little conversion project nearing completion in Yettington.

We’ve transformed the original cart shed and adjoining piggery into a warm, usable space whilst retaining as much of the character of the original buildings as possible.

The works included stripping out the existing buildings, renewing the roof finishes, installing new insulated roofs, floors and walls, and opening up the front of the cart shed with large sliding glazed doors.

Internally, the cart shed now incorporates a new shower room and first-floor mezzanine, with the original timber roof truss carefully refurbished, retained and left exposed to provide a great contrast with the new finishes.

A lot has gone into what, from the outside, still looks like a simple traditional outbuilding — which is exactly what we wanted to achieve.

A closer look at the refurbishment of Agatha Christie’s greenhouse at Greenway House.

The existing timberwork had suffered from significant rot, requiring careful removal and replacement of the affected sections. The windows were also beyond repair and were completely replaced, restoring both the structure and appearance of the greenhouse.

Building Etc acted as the main contractor, supplying and coordinating all trades throughout the project, from the carpentry and timber repairs through to the glazing and finishing works.

The result is a beautifully restored greenhouse that retains the character of the original structure while giving it a new lease of life.

Another project completed for the National Trust, with careful attention to detail throughout.

Bringing Greenway’s Greenhouse Back to Life 🌿✨

Here’s a glimpse at the work we’ve been carrying out at Agatha Christie’s greenhouse at Greenway House.

This beautiful National Trust property has been one of our projects throughout the summer. Despite the heatwaves, our team worked carefully to refurbish this historic structure, restoring its character while bringing new life and light to the space.

The delicate, detailed nature of this project is another example of the quality and craftsmanship we strive for in everything we do.

A complete transformation of this family home 🏡
Our clients wanted to create a more functional and connected living space, replacing the existing conservatory with a new kitchen and dining extension overlooking the garden.

Delivered across two stages, the project included:
• Demolition of the existing conservatory
• New kitchen and dining extension
• Bespoke IQ Glass doors overlooking the garden
• New entrance porch
• Internal alterations
• Extensive drainage works and a large soakaway
• New windows, fascias, soffits and rainwater goods
• Patio and external works
• Full redecoration

As principal contractor, we managed the project from start to finish, coordinating trades and accommodating numerous changes and additions throughout the build.
The result is a bright, spacious and cohesive home, completely transformed around the way our clients wanted to live.
