We have selection of spring bulbs in the shop now!

Tulips, narcissus, alliums, crocus and a couple of others.

It’s fine to plant everything now apart from tulips. Just wait until it’s a bit colder for the tulips.

Meet the team. Say hi to Finn everyone!

Finn is Sue’s eldest son and he works with us on a part time basis in the flower field. This year he has been busy sowing seeds, potting on, caring for the seedlings and planting them out when they are ready. Those seedlings then grow into the beautiful flowers that you can take home as bouquets or use for your special events.

Collecting seeds is the order of the day for Finn at the moment so that we can begin the process again for next year.

Finn has an HND in Film so he has a very creative eye. Finn is an avid Dungeons and Dragons fan and also a keen runner and is hoping to take part in the Edinburgh marathon next year.

Zoë recently visited the in Edinburgh and just had to check out the planting along the boundary of the rooftop garden. It was night time and fairly dark but the lighting was amazing. The planters and planting was designed and planted by Sue, who worked alongside the building’s architects, in 2021.

Our Liriope muscari are looking fantastic at the moment so they take the prize for plant of the week, this week.

They are evergreen and are tuberous perennials that form dense clumps of grass like leaves. In amongst the foliage are upright spikes of small purple flowers that appear now in autumn.

They are great for shade and partial shade and grow to around half a metre high and wide. They like to stay moist but in well drained soil so avoid overly wet areas. They like a sheltered spot so they do well planted under trees and larger shrubs.
