🎃 We need your help to make the Halloween Trail happen 🎃

The Northfields Allotments Halloween Trail is back on Saturday 31 October, and we're expecting up to 3,000 visitors. But we still have a lot of volunteer slots we haven't filled.

Without enough volunteers, we can't run the event safely. We're now having to decide whether to go ahead in full, shorten the event, or cancel it altogether. We really don't want to do that.

The Trail has been entirely volunteer-led for a decade, and nobody involved is paid. It only happens because local people give up a little of their time.

If you're 18+ and can spare a couple of hours, please sign up:

Start Your Halloween Night AT Northfields Allotments..…

After a year off, the Northfields Allotments Halloween Trail is back – and for the first time, it’s happening on Halloween itself!

📅 Saturday 31 October | 2.30–7.30pm

Come dressed for the occasion, explore the trail and then continue your Halloween adventures around the neighbourhood.

Our plot holders are already getting creative… expect pumpkins, spooky plots, a touch of Little Shop of Horrors, a headless chariot and plenty more surprises. 👻

Allotment Open Day – 5 July

Looking for something to do with the family this weekend? We've got plenty to keep the little ones entertained while you explore over 150 allotment plots.

Children can enjoy:

Did you know our site is home to several traditional manual water pumps - of varying types? Before mains water was widely available, generations of plot holders relied on them to keep their crops alive.

Some have been restored, others have become beautiful reminders of our site's long history – and they're well worth seeking out.

Why not see if you can spot one during our Summer Open Day on Saturday 5 July, 1pm–5pm? Wander over 200 plots, meet our plot holders and discover some of the hidden history that makes Northfields Allotments so special.

Summer Open Day: On Sunday 5 July we'll be opening our gates again for everyone in the local community to enjoy London's oldest allotments. The site dates back to 1832 and you'll be able to see some of the history of the site during your visit!

There will be tea, homemade cakes, a BBQ and a bar, and you can buy plants and fruit we’ve grown, and jams and preserves made by our plotholders with fruit from their plots.

What lies beneath Northfields Allotments?
After spending two months excavating around 10 tonnes of soil near the Mattock Lane boundary, one of our plotholders uncovered a fascinating collection of finds dating back more than a century.

Among them were an intact Cheltenham Mineral Water bottle from around 1910–1920, two cobalt blue poison bottles, coins from 1917, an early allotment plot marker, and milk bottles spanning the 1950s to the 1980s.

Proof that Northfields Allotments isn't just rich in growing history - it's rich in history full stop.
