While everyone is looking up… we’re looking behind the scenes.
Today, while people are looking up through special glasses to watch the eclipse, something rather interesting is happening behind the scenes in the energy system.

Octopus Energy is asking customers to use less electricity between 6pm and 8pm, because the eclipse will temporarily reduce solar generation at exactly the time when electricity demand is increasing and we will have to turn to more fossil fuel as a result. It’s a great example of something we talk about a lot at Gateforth One:
