At the start of a busy week, there's always a committee waiting to inspect the truck and make sure I've not forgotten anything! Especially a treat for them!

Running a local business means every day is different, but one thing that never changes is the welcome waiting at home.

🔐 **WHEN THE KEY TURNS… BUT THE DOOR DOESN’T OPEN**

This customer had a frustrating problem. The key was turning, but absolutely nothing was happening and the door was stuck shut.

After removing the door to release the mechanism, I was able to investigate properly and found that the existing multipoint locking mechanism had failed.

The bigger problem? **The mechanism is now obsolete.**

Rather than immediately telling the customer they needed to replace the whole system, I stripped things down, repaired the existing mechanism and got everything working again.

The result: **access restored, door opening and locking correctly, and no expensive replacement needed today.**

The repair will keep things going until the customer decides the time is right to upgrade the obsolete mechanism.

It’s a good example of the approach I take wherever possible:

🔧 **Repair Before Replace.**

Sometimes a little knowledge, investigation and patience can save a customer a considerable amount of money.

🔧 6 windows stuck shut… now all 6 are working again!

We were called to a customer who had six windows that wouldn’t open.

A local handyman had already had a go at the problem, but after tackling one window, had given up on the rest.

With the right tools and a bit of know-how, we were able to safely open all six windows, identify the failed mechanisms and replace the broken parts.

The result? Six fully working windows and plenty of fresh air again. ☀️💨

It’s another good example of why a faulty window doesn’t necessarily mean it needs replacing. In many cases, the mechanism or individual components can be repaired or replaced — saving the cost and disruption of fitting new windows.

Today's jobs... two different problems, two simple solutions.

The first call was to a customer who could no longer open two of their windows. After inspecting the issue, we found that both window gearboxes had failed.

We replaced the faulty gearboxes and now both windows open smoothly again, letting plenty of fresh air back into the home.

Our second call was to a customer whose door lock had partially fallen apart.

Rather than replacing everything and issuing new keys, we fitted a new lock that was keyed to work with the customer's existing keys, saving them the hassle of replacing keys for family members.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference.

From no access to back in business.

Today we were called to a commercial property after a roller shutter failed, leaving the customer unable to access their premises.

After assessing the issue, we safely gained entry, restored access and secured the property, allowing the customer to get back to business with minimal disruption.
