Underfloor Heating 🔥
Underfloor heating doesn’t always mean digging out the existing floor and starting from scratch.
We’re currently working on a retrofit installation in Barmouth, where the insulation boards only raise the existing floor level by 20mm. This means the system can be installed directly over the existing concrete floor, without the need to dig everything up.
With the floor tiles then being laid directly on top of the boards and no need for a traditional screed, we are keeping the overall finished floor height to a minimum.
At this stage, we’ve prepared the floor with self-leveller and primer, installed the pre-grooved insulation boards and started laying the heating system across a couple of zones.
There’s still a few steps to go, so we’ll be documenting the progress along the way.
We’ll be heading upstairs next, where the installation is slightly different as we’re working over floorboards.
A good example of how underfloor heating can be retrofitted into an existing property without completely ripping the floor apart!
