🚧 Project Complete | Woodside Industrial Estate, Dunstable 🚧

We're pleased to announce the successful completion of our works at W30, Dunstable, where the former WH Smith Distribution Centre has been fully demolished, marking a significant milestone in the site's redevelopment.

Our scope of works included the demolition of existing buildings, removal of foundations and footings, processing of demolition arisings, and the crushing of site-won materials for reuse. We also removed all slab and yard areas, ensuring the site was fully cleared as part of the demolition and remediation programme.

By maximising the recovery and reuse of materials generated during the demolition process, the project delivered significant sustainability benefits while reducing waste sent off site.

This completion marks the successful delivery of a comprehensive site preparation package for our client, with the site now prepared for the next stage of development!

🚧 Enabling Site Redevelopment | Limewood, Leeds

Following on from our previous update, works are progressing well at Limewood, Leeds, where we’re delivering the demolition of a large former utilities site on behalf of AtkinsRéalis for nPower.

The project is progressing well through the high-reach demolition phase, with specialist plant equipment safely and efficiently bringing down the remaining structures, while the removal of below-ground structures continues across the site.

Sustainability remains a key focus, with demolition materials being crushed on site and reused where possible, helping to reduce waste and support responsible redevelopment.

Another great example of our teams making steady progress on a complex site, safely and professionally! 💪

🏗️ We’re proud to be supporting Derby City Council on this technically challenging project.

Successfully lifting Walter’s Walkway marks an important milestone, enabling the next phase of our works on the original Darley Abbey Bridge. It’s a great example of collaborative planning, specialist engineering and safe delivery under complex conditions.

✅ Project Completion | Midland Road Depot, Bath

We're proud to have recently delivered the demolition of the Midland Road Depot in Bath on behalf of Bath & North East Somerset Council.

As our first appointment through the Procure Partnerships Framework, this project demonstrated the value of collaboration, clear communication, and a shared commitment to delivering safe and effective outcomes for our client and the local community.

Working through the Procure Partnerships South West Demolition Framework, our team completed the works safely and efficiently while maintaining the high standards that underpin every Cawarden project.

Project Update | Former Showcase Cinema, Derby 🚧

The former 10-screen Showcase Cinema in Derby, a place many of us remember visiting as kids, is almost through its demolition phase.

Over the last 12 weeks we've completed asbestos removal, soft strip works and demolition down to slab and footing level, with on-site segregation and a crusher helping maximise material recycling.

Demolition is now nearing completion, with earthworks set to begin as we prepare the site for a new care home and commercial spaces.

A great team effort so far and exciting to see the next chapter of this iconic Derby site begin!

Back at Wilmorton Community Gardens 🌱

This week, Emma, Moira and Julie from Cawarden HQ returned to Wilmorton Community Gardens for a volunteer day in support of YMCA Derbyshire.

It’s always rewarding to see how the gardens progress with each visit, and our task this time was to clear an overgrown section of one of the plots. Despite the heat, the team worked hard to transform the space - just take a look at the before and after!

True to our ethos, we made sure to leave the area better than we found it. While clearing the space, we uncovered a collection of blue decorative stones, which we repurposed into some temporary decoration while the area undergoes the rest of its transformation. We hope it brings a smile to those who visit the gardens.

Scott and the YMCA team will complete the fencing and prepare the area for future vegetable planting, helping to create a space the community can continue to enjoy.

A huge thank you to YMCA Derbyshire for having us back - we’re looking forward to seeing the next stage of the gardens take shape!
