🏗️ 12 minutes from lift-off to landing. Decades of expertise made it possible.

Looking back at a milestone from this summer, the successful removal of the Darley Abbey Mills Bridge for Derby City Council was the result of exceptional teamwork, specialist expertise and meticulous coordination.

Delivered as part of a complex emergency project, the lift showcased the collaborative efforts of everyone involved to safely remove the bridge while safeguarding the local community, historic setting and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Celebrating 50 Years of the IDE 🎖️

Members of the Cawarden team attended the Institute of Demolition Engineers Gala Ball last Saturday, joining demolition professionals from across the industry to help mark the IDE's 50th anniversary.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the achievements, people and projects that have helped shape the demolition sector over the last five decades.

Adding to the celebrations, our very own Mat Mowat, Project Manager at Cawarden, was featured in the IDE's commemorative anniversary publication.

Mat's contribution shares his journey into the demolition industry, the challenges he has overcome and the career he has built along the way.

It was great to see one of our team featured in this milestone publication and to join the wider industry in celebrating such a significant anniversary.

🏆 Apprentice of the Year 2026

A huge congratulations to our very own Josh Fuller, who has been named Demolition Apprentice of the Year at the eighth annual British Demolition Awards 2026 in London.

Joining Cawarden with no previous demolition experience, Josh has developed into a highly capable and trusted member of the team over the past two years. Through hard work, a willingness to learn and a commitment to every opportunity presented to him, he has earned the respect of colleagues, managers and clients alike.

Working on projects across the UK, Josh has consistently demonstrated professionalism, initiative and leadership potential beyond his years, taking on responsibilities that would typically be expected of far more experienced operatives.

The judges were unable to separate the top two candidates, with both Josh and Kamal Radji of Clifford Devlin recognised as winners of the Demolition Apprentice of the Year award. Congratulations to Kamal on his achievement too. It was fantastic to see both winners celebrate their success together.

Well done, Josh. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we're incredibly proud of what you've achieved. 👏
