Today’s reminder: safety and respect always come first

I visited a client today—a woman living alone—who was left badly shaken by an incident just before I arrived. Another contractor had asked overly personal questions and made an unwanted advance, leaving her feeling scared and vulnerable.

No one should ever feel unsafe or disrespected in their own home, especially when having work done. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, or know someone who might, here’s practical advice I shared today:
Report it: Speak up—you can report the behaviour to the contractor’s company directly, and if needed, to local authorities or relevant trade/consumer bodies.
Stay safe in advance: If you feel at all unsure about someone visiting your home, arrange for a friend or family member to be there with you.
Share details beforehand: Always note down the person’s full name, their business name and contact details, and leave this information with someone you trust before they arrive.

We all have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and professionalism. If you’re a tradesperson or service provider, your conduct matters just as much as the quality of your service.

In a short period of time. The German cockroach managed to take hold. Spreading from room to room. Infested the boiler, cupboards, and wardrobes of the individual rooms. A spraying treatment was not advised. Due to personal effects in every possible corner. Gel was applied instead.
