Replaced this old ball float valve with a brand-new Viva fill valve yesterday.
While I was at it, I upgraded the pipework from plastic to copper and fitted a new thumb-turn isolation valve for easier maintenance in the future.
A nice, straightforward job, and a chance to get the pipe benders out for a change.

Customer calls and says they have no heating. After a short investigation I found the pump had been blocked meaning the central heating system was getting no circulation and the cylinder was being heated by a single immersion. Old one out, new one in. System back up and running ready for the winter.

Cut too close to the joist… So yes, I had to add some timber to give the floorboards something to sit on and get them back down properly.

Always heat test your radiators.... You’re a mug if you don’t.

Had to break out the soldering bag for the super tight 90° going into the street elbow from the valve. Don’t judge my soldering… it doesn’t leak.

Outside tap all done to regs with isolation valve, double check valve and sleeved pipe.

Ball float replacement in a ridiculously hot loft the other day. Hummingbird hawk moth at the end for all you nature nerds out there.
