Here at Midland Alarm Services Ltd we have been providing security and safety to thousands of homes and businesses throughout the UK since 1987. We understand the needs of the security-conscious householder and business owner. We can design, maintain and update a system to protect you and your family or business. When we started the business 30 years ago security systems were very different than they are today. Our highly trained team deliver bespoke solutions to both homes and businesses from design and upgrade to installation and maintenance, using a range of wireless electronic systems. In the early 1990s, we started working with the regions housebuilders: Cala Homes, Persimmon and Charles Church to name but a few. The partnership with these housebuilders demanded the highest quality security systems on the market; a practice we’ve continued to this day with every alarm we now fit. These include HKC Quantum 70 and Visonic Powermaster range. The security market is ever-evolving, so we go beyond simply installing and maintaining a security system. Our job is to provide bespoke consultancy and advice to our customers and support them from quote to installation and providing maintenance when needed. On that basis we work hard to develop long-term relationships with our clients. Before fitting an alarm recently, we chatted to our customer about what happens if it's triggered while they're away.

They liked that a monitored burglar alarm sends an alert to their phone through the SecureComm app. They can check which sensor was triggered, see whether the alarm is set and decide what to do next.

They also chose a video doorbell for extra coverage at the front of the house. It gives them a clearer view of visitors, deliveries and activity around the entrance.

Last week, we spoke to a homeowner who was unsure whether CCTV or a video doorbell would be the better choice for their property.

Both allow you to see what is happening around your home, but they provide different levels of coverage. A video doorbell focuses on the front door, visitors and deliveries, while CCTV can cover wider areas such as the driveway, side access and rear garden.

A customer in Allesley Green came to us recently after their patio doors had been targeted, with someone attempting to reach car keys from inside the home.

We fitted a full alarm system along with shock sensors on the patio doors, so any attempt to force or tamper with them is picked up straight away, not after someone's already through. It's perimeter protection that covers the point of entry itself, rather than relying on movement being detected once someone's already inside.
