Autumn is here, and so are the uninvited house guests ππ
Every October, as the nights draw in and the temperature drops, we get a rise in calls from Coventry homes about the same thing: scratching in the loft, droppings behind the cooker, or that βIβm sure I just saw something dart across the kitchen floorβ moment.
Youβre not alone, and itβs not a sign your home is dirty. Mice and rats are simply looking for somewhere warm, dry and quiet to see out the winter, and our houses tick every box.
A few things you can do this week to make your home less inviting:
- Seal gaps around pipes and air bricks (a mouse can squeeze through a gap the width of a pencil)
- Store dry food, pet food and bird seed in sealed containers
- Clear clutter from garages, sheds and under the stairs
- Keep bins closed and tidy up garden waste
If youβve already spotted signs, donβt panic and donβt leave it. Early action is quicker, kinder to your wallet and far less stressful than waiting until itβs become a full-blown problem.
Weβre a small family run business here in Coventry, so when you call, youβll talk to one of us, not a call centre. Weβll explain whatβs going on, give you an honest price upfront and only treat what actually needs treating.

And if a neighbour, family member or friend has mentioned theyβve been hearing things go bump in the night, feel free to tag them. π
