☀️ Two fencing styles. One complete solution. 🐎

A look back at one of our installations completed in the height of summer, combining traditional timber post and rail fencing with a modern Gallagher electric fencing system.

The timber post and rail provides a strong, attractive and clearly defined paddock boundary, while the addition of electric fencing offers an extra level of protection for both horses and the fence itself.

Look closely and you’ll spot the Gallagher offset XDI insulators, carefully positioned along the top rail. These hold the electric fence line away from the timber, helping to discourage horses from leaning on, rubbing against or chewing the rails.

As Gallagher Approved Installers, we can supply and install both traditional equestrian fencing and electric fencing systems, ensuring the two work effectively together.

🌿 Traditional appearance. Modern technology. Built for equestrian environments.

Before the first post goes in, we take time to talk through the work.

Here, John is answering a customer’s questions and explaining the plan before installation begins. It gives everyone a chance to check the details and know what to expect.

Practical advice is part of the service when you choose Tarling fencing.

🐾 A secure new space for Woolpit’s four legged residents.

We are really pleased to showcase the fencing installation we completed for

For this project we installed a combination of copper oil treated timber and tornado dog netting, creating a strong, practical and secure boundary designed specifically with dogs in mind.

The drone footage really shows the scale of the installation and how the new fence line sits within its surroundings.

It’s great to see the finished project ready to be enjoyed by the local community - and, more importantly, their dogs! 🐕 🐾

A big thank you to Woolpit dog park for choosing Tarling fencing to carry out the fencing works, and for sharing the fantastic drone footage of the finished installation.

FAQ: Timber, concrete or DuraPost®—which should you choose?

There isn’t one correct answer. The best option depends on your budget, the appearance you want and how much future maintenance you are comfortable with.

🪵 Timber posts

Timber provides a traditional, natural finish that suits most gardens. We use properly treated UC4 posts and can fit PostSaver® sleeves to provide additional protection around the vulnerable ground-line area.

🏗️ Concrete posts

Concrete posts are strong, durable and won’t rot. They work particularly well with removable fence panels and concrete gravel boards, although their heavier appearance may not suit every garden.

🟤 DuraPost®

DuraPost is manufactured from galvanised steel and offers a slim, modern alternative to timber or concrete. It won’t rot, crack or warp and is available in several coloured finishes. It generally costs more initially but provides a smart, low-maintenance installation.

So, which should you choose?

• Traditional appearance: Timber
• Strength and practicality: Concrete
• Modern and low maintenance: DuraPost

We’ll always explain the available options and recommend the system that best suits your property.

Which would you choose for your garden?

The right entrance doesn’t just secure a property — it completes it.

These Jacksons gates and woven panels create a welcoming, high-quality entrance that complements the property beautifully and gives the whole frontage a finished look.

The customer kindly shared this feedback directly with Jacksons:

“Tarling Fencing gave a very professional service from the time of quoting to completing the work… I’m very happy with the end result — top-quality job and products.”

We’re especially proud of this feedback as the installation was completed during extremely hot weather. A huge credit to Jordon and the team for their hard work, communication and attention to detail throughout.

♻️ Not every tired fence needs replacing from the ground up.

For this boundary, the existing concrete posts were still sound, so we retained them and replaced the worn timber with a new pressure-treated framework and feather-edge boarding.

The result is a secure, refreshed boundary with a smart new finish—without unnecessarily removing materials that still had plenty of life left in them.

As it’s Recycle Week, this project is a useful reminder that reducing waste isn’t only about what we recycle. Where it is safe and practical, reusing what is already in place can be the better option.

Retain. Renew. Refresh.

🔍 FOCUS ON: THE POST KNOCKER – PT. 1

Have you ever wondered how we drive hundreds of fencing posts securely into the ground?

Meet our Bryce Suma post knocker.

Mounted to our tractor, the Bryce Suma is primarily used for larger agricultural and equestrian fencing projects, including long fence lines where numerous intermediate and straining posts need to be installed.

Once the fence line has been established, each post is positioned and aligned before the hydraulic hammer drives it directly into the ground. The depth, position and alignment are carefully monitored throughout the process.

Where the ground conditions and fencing specification allow, driving posts removes the need to excavate individual holes or use concrete. This can mean:

• Faster and more efficient installation
• Less excavated material and ground disturbance
• Firmly driven posts
• Consistent positioning throughout the fence line

We use the Bryce Suma for a range of fencing systems, including post and rail, stock fencing, equestrian fencing and other large-scale installations.

Of course, the machinery is only part of the process. Correct setup, an experienced operator and careful attention to line, level and post depth are all essential to achieving a professional result.
